Looks interesting
Not many details has been revealed yet, but:
16 voices
2 OSC's (type unknown)
2 Instruments (type unknown) of some samplebased type
Lowpass filter (type unknown)
Hipass filter (I've read somewhere)
4 lfo's
2 Effects
What do you think we have here?
All speculation,- also over @KC ...
I guess the polyphony comes from REV2 and it plays samples (8DIO is a sample set seller).
The question is if there will be 2 additional synth type OSCs or just only 2 OSCs which can do both,- alternately.
The filters will be what we know from DSI/ Sequential ... OnChip (CEM) chips,- at least for some analog synth section, probably also derivates from REV2,- "synth on a chip" (like Oberheim Matrix-6/Matrix-1000 CEM 3396) and if true.
The sample mangling might be supported by Prophet 12 components.
My guess is, it will be a combo of REV2 and Pro12/ Pro2 engines w/ more advanced sample playback beyond single-cycle loops, one-shots and wavetables.
I can imagine it MIGHT also go in the direction of the KORG Wavestation,- means "vector synthesis" where it´s unclear what is replacing the joystick because there isn´t any ...
Maybe the pair of ribbons and/or MIDI CCs.
It´s for sure somewhat interesting, but I´d prefer to get it in a flat-top case similar to a former SCI Prophet T8, together w/ 76 fully weighted keys A-C (like a piano), a +/- 1 octave transpose button coupled to a toggle ft-switch, masterkeyboard functionality and,- ice-on-the-cake,- poly AT.
Well, I can dream ...
As a "synth-action" keyboard, it doesn´t interest me much.
Anyway,- Superbooth is in 2 days ... we´ll hear and see more then.
But, when I look at all these features mentioned above and all the/my guesses as well,- I recognize we have all that in SCOPE as well,- some complete, other basic (for the time being).
I dunno what sample size Prophet X will be able to play back and I know SCOPE samplers are comparable to early 90s hardware sampler´s standard (which I somewhat like),- but that might change sooner or later when they receive updates or a new device comes in addition or as a replacement from S|C or 3rd party.
I also believe we´ll get more polyphony from bigger devices on XITE in future because there will come more optimizations.
SCOPE 7 was just only the beginning.
I own enough keyboard instruments already and I´ll only invest in those giving exactly what I want/need as a controller,- otherwise I prefer rackmount devices or,- ideally,- stuff running in SCOPE.
