Save As ... Not Responding.

Post by dawman »

Weird Scenes inside the Gold Mine.

Scope closes fine, Bidule will not close, nor will any attempts to use “Save As” on my PC.
It freezes and stays that way.
It says it is looking for a solution then just sits there until you X it out and then won’t save jack shit.
Newest PianoTeq 6.1 download link goes to a blank page and freezes too.

Any ideas what I need to do to resolve this?

I fixed it....
After reading several scientists claiming this and that I said fuck it and deleted Google Chrome.
Then used Acronis System Clean up, re installed Chrome and it’s all good.
Been a rough week with PCs.
I started cloning everything for 3 x PCs as my new gig requires shitloads of instruments, etc.
All done and clones are both old Z97s barely used.

Scope is more stable than any of this crap.
Works every time.
I’ve got a few PCI-e connectors, 2 of them HDMI, stick em in they work great.

These PCs only go online to get data I’ve paid for.
And shit like this happens after a few hours and pisses me off.
These tech/data giants would be bored with my life, they should just leave me alone.
Hack my iPad, leave my Windows 7/8 PCs alone.
When I say NEVER Update, I mean it.

I usually save bidule projects in the 'off' state (processing turned off, click the on/off button until it says 'off'). This improves stability when reloading as well as when saving, and also helps in the event that things go *poof* with your ASIO layer...

12 years and never a crash from Scope/Bidule.
Two peas in a pod.

I save projects to desktop these days.
Something happened along the way where I couldn’t use the storage/folders so I live with a Logo waiting to saved or clicked to open.

Solaris has an editor on PC Now, looks just like a Scope project window or Bidule.
Modular connections, etc.

I’m so use to that when trying any other host I get exasperated.

Will be upgrading to Scope7/Windows 10 April 8th.
Got 3 weeks off.
Playing a Janis Joplin Tribute at the Club she did her first gig @ with this big mama who sings her ass off.

The 3 PCs can all use Scope 7 right?
Windows I’ll need a few licenses probably.

Start with PC #3.
If it’s smooth then others will follow.

I’d rather buy the keys I think and start from scratch.
I tried the “Free” upgrade years back and it froze my PCs at 99% after I waited forever.

I’ll just try it on my spare first.
If things go well I can move ahead.

It’s just such a great system for live work, stable, quality audio,..hate to see that change just to be current.
But I really want to stay with 1U chassis and eventually someone will design a 1U board for these new AMD Chips, or even another server PCB using newer Intels.

Just don’t need as much horsepower these days, so finding server style (DIMMs perpendicular to faceplate) boards on non Xeon chips past Z/H 97 era isn’t happening.
Chip wars caused too many consumer boards to be released too quickly.
The dust still hasn’t settled...

I used my windows 7 key on a fresh install of windows 10. It turns out you can even run windows 10 indefinitely without a key. It just has minor annoyances like you can't change the desktop wallpaper and it'll remind you that you don't have a license key. Works fine though and good if you're testing stuff out before deciding to pull the trigger.
