Want to know, what you think about futures motherboards.
Do you think , that there will still be motherboards with 3 pci slots, which i need it at the moment for connecting 3 cards.
Yes, i know, some would say, spend money on xite-1 or D version, or maybe Scope pro card, so i'll need then just 1 pci slot
Simply , that gets too much money for me, if just for hobbie purpose.
Anyway, what you think ?
I can still find few mobos 6th generation with 3 x pci slots, but maybe next generation will not have 3 anymore , or ?
they're around, but really PCI slots are obsolete.
you don't need the latest models anyway. eventually, there will only be a couple of server boards which may or may not work for your cards. i think this is still a few years away.

i get older too, so i'll need new mobo too
well, i'm thinking something like, getting new mobo first and then later new cpu and so on...
ofcourse, just a thought.
currently i have one machine from 2010 and second 2012, ofcourse if creamware cards will get so far
Just look at the chipsets to see if they support the PCI 32bit 5 volt protocol.
Usually the motherboards stop providing while the chipsets still support things.
The last ISA and PCI X board from Supermicro was made last year.
So that's a pretty good indicator of the future too.
Well, most people tend to talk about “speed”, but for music, a Xeon is not much about speed as it is about “capacity”, and this is very important, and yes, it gives a very stable system. I have never had one myself, but this is what I have read consistently about studios experimenting with big Xeon super multicore systems.
I don’t think Xeons are, nevertheless, for all kind of musicians and uses. They will match a particular use of their power, otherwise it could be a waste of money and a useless complication. I think that most of us can work pretty well with a modern i7, they are way more powerful than needed, in most cases.
Then, of course, and this is a mathematical response: if you use a machine with one or several Xeons, you will need a fair amount of RAM to go with. If you go the Xeon path, and don’t want to spend a good amount of money in lots and lots of RAM, I don’t see the point in having them. If you get Xeons, you need both, lots of RAM and the Xeon.

Xeons are higher binned products with top of the line GFX, on the newest E3 1275 v5 it's a 64MB of L4 cache.
It's slower than a 4.0GHz CPU, but the cache is handed over to audio if a GFX Card is used.
Then the IPS of the Xeon is better than any i7 desktop currently on offer.
I have an i7 5775C which is basically a Xeon, and at 3.5GHz it does everything my 4.4GHz i7 6700k does, and does it cooler using only 75 watts.
Probably the last time you'll see a really top shelf, reasonably priced PCI 32bit board...

anyway, i really don't know how well the socket 1151 config works with Scope cards....
it might be great, or it might not be so great.
the thing about Supermicro boards in general, is that they are made for mission critical use, 24/7 servers. they are made to last a long time, so they are made with the best parts. customer support is also unbelievably good in my experience, too.
anyway, if the socket 1150 motherboards that have worked for other users in the masterverb thread aren't powerful enough for a number of years to come, then...
well, i didn't have any problems in 4 years with socket 1155 and i7 2600k.
also no matter which windows version i had, from win 7pro to win8-8.1pro and now win10 pro 64bit
Win 7 64 is great, but you lose some little resources (particularly RAM related), compared with a very well tweaked Win 8.1 64. But 8 demands so much tweaking works for such a little variance that it is not worth the effort. As a DAW, both OSs will work almost identical.
After some tests, I can confirm it by myself: Win 10 64 it is NOT ready to be properly used as a DAW, you should avoid it unless you make a very restricted use of your DAW using it for specific proven tasks and apps, and of course, only if you have a good reason to use Win 10 64, which I doubt seriously. If you do lots of different things and use lots of different VSTs in your productions, you WILL find problems on the way.
Definite and proven summary conclusion under my experience about these 3 OSs:
Win 7 64 is very good for your DAW, overall, and very stable too!
Win 8.1 can be good if you tweak it well, but it is not worth the effort for such a small increased performance. It is not as stable as Win 7 64, as far as I can tell.
Win 10 64 is still a bit of a mess for a DAW, I would not recommend it yet.

my typical producing area is ,
cubase 8.5 artist - sequencing and vst instruments
scope - mixing from cubase, mastering, synths, effects and back recording to cubase (final mix).
soundforge - audio editing
ok, here's one mobo i've been looking for some time now.
if you can check the picture, do you think that s-tdm cable is long enough if you consider connecting 3 cards.
from pci slot 1 to pci slot 2 is quite a big gap.

You will have to do the cable yourself I guess, it seems to big of a gap. But doing a cable is extremely easy, just a couple of minutes and you're done, as long as you can get the elements you need in your place.
