Non K BCLK on i5 6500s

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Hey Dawman,
I forgot to ask about memory speed in regards to audio work. I picked up some 2400MHz DDR3 today to test it. It's about 30GB/s bandwidth according to benchmarks. That's a lot faster than the old 1333 RAM I had. Will this help with anything?
Thanks!

make and record music?
no.
play back more big sample libraries at the same time?
maybe a bit...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Ahh, thanks for the advice Gary...
Maybe I'll get into big samples one day, I have no idea what the future holds.
I know, I can make music with just a cheap 4 track or something. That's why I am simplifying things.
Aye, I'll still stick around for advice although my scope is half gone
Thanks,
-Tom

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
I never see any difference with RAM speed.
We can use such small kbyte buffers in Kontakt 5.5 you can basically go direct to SSD/M,2 if so desired.
I prefer 32k-64k buffers since Kontakt has NCW lossless compression.
It uses 40% less RAM now and actually makes old HDDs like Raptors still usable.
Those drives were 55-83MBps but 35MBps random reads iirc.
Its PLAY 4.3.2 that uses the IOPS and CPU.
But once you use Hollywod Strings you dont care whats needed.
They sound that good.
You can buy the Silver version for 125 USD and 50 more for the iLok and upgrade over tme.
Its 53 violins playing at once.......
If I had that back in the 80s I could have been a contender.
I remember Scope and Gigastudio.
Awesome and cheap since I needed very little thanks to Scope.
My native needs have grown but native synths really sucked until recently.
Now Omnisphere and Zebra are never going to sound better than discrete audio.
But for the thousands you save its definately come close enough for live work.
The clarity and punch still belong to discrete audio....

Getting OT here,
But wow those Hollywood Woodwinds demo holy crap! Amazing man! I am more interested in the regular saxophones, flutes and stuff like that. Maybe some brass. Is this the best stuff out there right now? This makes my VL sound like a joke
Will this take good advantage of my memory?
Thanks man!

How wonderful music is! Really! Look at all the pain we are capable of carrying onto our shoulders to be able to keep it up and running… and it is worth it.
