Premier is the best, but I use Vegas Pro, it is more than enough for me. I find it much simpler than Premiere and I can do the same, and it is way cheaper.
But I use CUDA unlock so it's very fast rendering (compared to software rendering) also Premiere Pro is easy to use when you know it.

Music videos for my own music.

Cuda sounds interesting.
I BETA tested GPU based reverb in the late 90s using ATI and Matrox AGP4x cards.
Then NVidia bought the patent from the Univetsity never to release it as promised.
Always wanted CUDA based parallel processing for something like Nebula but video
Seems like a natural.

Cuda seems to be a very efficient way indeed

Video rendering is 4X faster with my cheap old NVIDIA card. This also includes the Premiere preview window.

How can it be possible? Which are the two cards you are comparing against each other so?

On the subject of hyperthreading...
It's a way of shoving more stuff into the execution pipeline; the physical execution resources are shared but the execution states of the threads are stored, allowing much faster context switch between threads (2 threads running on one core), but is only worth considering if properly supported in the OS.
Note that there's nothing written in any application (Kontakt was mentioned) which will determine whether hyperthreading is 'properly used' or not; it's a purely OS/hardware call whether to use it. Whether its more efficient to do so or not does depend upon the nature of the applications, but this is not something you'd code for.
On the subject of real-time...

Cool and interesting... I whish I had the time to sort out so many things that I would like to know and learn, like more about how a PC actually works, but fortunately then someone like you comes, someone who has given itsel this time I cannot afford to have, and with a few lines it sorts it all out for you. Thank you! That is why Planet Z is soo cool, we all know something special that can be shared with others, and as a group, we build up losts and lots of knowledge.

I think you'd be better off getting a 16 core Xeon chip than rely on Hyperthreading.
But those can cost a few bucks...

Poor audio performance when you go past 4 cores.

Hmm, didn't know. I think I need to overclock to 4.4GHz cause Diva is overloading my cores... It's crazy. Maybe I should check for an update. The multicore checkbox doesn't seem to spread the load across the CPU.dawman wrote:Poor audio performance when you go past 4 cores.
