Hardware FX For All Scopers

Post by dawman »

This is the very best Multi FX unit I ever heard.
It can create TRUE Multi FX and allows custom routing like Scope.
ADAT works fine @ 44.1k But I use the XITE-1 and run @ 48k.

Really great being able to run a great sounding slapback using Pitch or Delay, they both sound fantastic, into a Filter then into a Kick butt Reverb.
Desiging and editing all of the sounds before inserting them into the TC ROuting Window.
I think these guys had a Scope DSP card when they made this.
350-400 used is really well worth it.
Beats any VST and DSP plugs.
dNa's Optimus Prime sounded so good I decided to use the TC just for Reverb, Pitch and Filter FX.
The combination is deadly and ADAT FX are kind or rare, the Alesis Q20 is expensive and sounds like crap, I bought one and was lucky to dump it off.
This unit is awesome....

FWIW this isn't your basic reverb/delay.
Mangling filters and reverse echo on here are sick.
SOS did a review but I will do one on this beauty myself I like it so much.

ADAT is old so many say, but our band runs through an X32 Behringer, uses ADAT for extra I/Os, accepts my ADAT outs, and after seeing this unit, I am grateful for 48k ADAT and TC/Scope.

Unconventional reverbs are kind of rare, this one has reverse decay on it which is really sick. You can make a dry Piano, doing fairly fast comps like Boogie Woogie stuff really unique and in your face.

I also have a Fireworx, very nice unit with a powerful modulation matrix :)

That's the best part, using Alpha wheel and other MIDI controllers for real time modulations and the Matrix is awesome for that.
The depth of the Modulation FX is fascinating. Hardware pedals have a good sound for Guitars but synths just never seem to sound good through them, but using this for phasing and LoFi in real time is awesome.

Just came back to say ANYONE...using ADAT and Scope Cards or XITE Racks really needs to get a TC Fireworx.
I have mastered its functionality finally and it can replace so many FX, while working alongside select VSTs and DSP FX.

Now I am learning true FX programming like feedback loops to and from other blocks by disecting complex effects that came with 400 presets.

These go for 350 to 700 used.
Get one.
I have just purchased my 4th.

2 for me 2 for the PA.
I actually control one of the PA Fireworx with BluTooth MIDI.
FOH loves it and so does the band.
Tap in Tempo delays from a button on my Physis K4.

Buenissimo.......!!!!

I can vouch for this unit as well. Excellent device.
The AES/EBU connection fits nicely into the back of the Xite or if you have the cards with that connection. Nice effects send and return rig. Free up your ADAT for your other audio. I now have all of my ins/outs utilized on my Xite. Well except the headphones.

Can you run AES/EBU @ 44.1k....?
I was running Solaris through a Hosa TosLink to AES/EBU Converter @48k.
But XITE doesnt like ADAT @48k.
Decided to use the buzzy hot inputs on a modified ADA8200 for my 6 x Ambika synth out,
and 2 x more for Solaris.
Might try the AES/EBU again but need to keep ADAT @ 44.1k.

your XITE doesn't like ADAT at 48k, but 48k works for most others. at least it works here...

there's no advantage to 48k over 44.1k anyway.

True, but Solaris only sends out 48k on it's Digital TosLink connector.
Which is why I had 48k projects but that's changed now with the extra TC Fireworx units.
Behringer X32s and all other convenience mixers for micing drums, etc. are fine with 44.1.

Whats cool about the ADA8200 is how I can send it an effects unit like the TC Fireworx into ADAT in.
Then 6 x analog inputs, all going through a single ADAT cable to the XITE-1 input.
Hate using 8 I/Os for an effects unit.
Something about the Fireworx and ADA82000s that don't like 48k ADAT.
If XITE-1 can handle 48k AES/EBU you're right, perhaps these units have crappier clocks or something.
At any rate the new set up is nice, more than 1 way to skin a Cat.

Well I was initially running 48k on the AES/EBU when I first got my Fireworx but now i'm back to 44.1k. Personally I really couldn't hear the difference but maybe others with better monitors might? I dunno.
So yes the Fireworx runs stable with Xite as master for both settings over here.

the difference between 44.1k and 48k is minimal, virtually unhearable.

48k costs more in resources too?
