MIDI matrix/router/splitter

Post by siriusbliss »

I'd like to see a dynamic MIDI matrix router/splitter that's possibly button-automatable for use with surface (or even foot) controllers.

Purpose is to have a live performance instrument/preset selector rather than using mixers.

It could be treated as a MIDI hub for routing incoming MIDI to any number of devices.
Perhaps also including channel filters.

If something like this already exists, then I either haven't found it, or it's not what I'm looking for.

Thanks,

Greg

I would look at Wolf's MIDI Tool Box.
If you like it ask him for the MPC that changes groups of 8 presets on 8 channels simultaneously.
Then check out SurAudio's PRJ.

MIDI Channel 1 is all that the PRJ can use, but it will reset all levels per preset, like a snapshot feature. Wolf's MPC can send program changes simulataneously on 8 channels. Which in turn can change MIDI routing of the MIDI Transformers, etc. in Wolf's MIDI Tool Box.

Sounds painful, but there should be a way to DIY.

Thanks.

I looked at the toolbox, but didn't see that module, or didn't think it would work (can't remember), but I'll check it out.

In the meantime I'm setting up MIDI-OX to do some tricks before the incoming MIDI stream even hits Scope (or Samplitude when tracking).

Objective is to setup VG-99 to drive a preset change sweep through various synths (and eventually MODIV), while sending regular note information during playback. Still have a ways to go. I'd like to eventually get a setup similar to Gtak on Kontakt.

Greg

p.s. looks like I also need a velocity curve front end where I can convert lower velocity input coming from my guitar, since for some reason I'm getting low input coming from the guitar, which means I'm not getting good triggering on incoming notes.
