coming audio/midi/usb interface for tablet musicians

Post by hubird »

Not really a Scope tip, but anyway.
iConnect Audio 4+ from iConnectivity, expected in Februari.
It's what everyone is waiting for :)
Class compliant, no drivers needed :-)
I cancelled my ordered Roland Quad Capture audio interface for it.
Have a look:

So much great Mac stuff out for iStuff in general.

Our drummer controls an X32 Rack that has so many great apps for live work, and also allows an FOH to just walk around, run an analyzer and change the mix as the room fills up, all mobile too.

i is definitely hooking things up in a big way.

Happy New Years Hubird...

Same to you :-)
I did that lately: walking around in a party hall and changing the PA's EQ-settings from a app on an iPad.
It's fun, and more accurat that way as you cover the room better.

also waiting for the iConnect Audio device, as it's supposed to stream audio between iPads...
Audiobus may be nice, but what if you need access to tweak on 2 or more controller surfaces ? :o :-? :D

I have the iConnectMIDI4+.

It does not have audio outputs of it's own. But it can route audio between 3 systems...PC/MAC/iPad/Android. In fact, it has several channels that can be assigned and routed as you wish.

Likewise, it will route MANY channels of MIDI between any of the three devices, the ports, and the USB host port that it has (for further MIDI I/O, or keyboards that only have USB on them). No PC needed.

So one can route MIDI from 1 iPad to another, then route the Audio from the 2nd iPad to a PC. Easy (once you figure out the routing mechanism for handling so many channels!)

there are 2 important points:
IOS comes with a default stereo output pair, that's used by 95% of all apps/devices
multichannel virtual audio needs dedicated programming...
(even more if coupled to physical outputs)

IOS devices have only a single USB connector...
I could imagine those folks might do something about this (vaguely hoping)

cheers, Tom
