Tracking ITB

Post by dawman »

I was always under the assumption that we wanted a signal from the DAW to Scope that was around -3db as to avoid clipping.
I have made some decent mixes using this, but after being away from my rig for 8 weeks I was feverish to check out new toys and ideas, new Modular patches to dissect.
I was reading from a well known PT/Logic guy that a lower signal into PTools allowed the DSP effects more headroom to operate with so I tried a -12db from Reaper into Scope, then used Soft Clip gains per channel and the SpaceF LimFat II > Reaper 2 Track, which I did push to a -3db.
Sounds pretty damn powerful, so I will now try and use this for live work too.
Think I'm getting ready for the dNa Summer of '82 as there's little need to have screensets of Reapers SubMix out, just a performance Toolbar where the Transport and Project Selections can been seen and verified when called up from my Controller Units.
