WINDOWS 7 Cubase 6 set up

Post by korgano »

Hi everybody,

just a tought:
We are living in 21st century and it is not possible to install Windows 7 ( original ) and Cubase 6( original ) and SCOPE 5.0 ( original ) and record without plops and glitches.

I had same Cubase 6( original ) and SCOPE 5.0 ( original ) installed on same PC with WIndows XP and it worked fine. Of course after planty tweakings.

I just wish that soon it will be possible to install OS and Software and get going without tweaking on windows, bios and who know what else :-)

Cheers !

all of those work fine together, EXCEPT-

if you have irq sharing with a pci card, you will have trouble.

if you have cpu power stepping enabled, you will have trouble.

if you have a socket 1155 processor and a pci card, you will have trouble.

Thanks GaryB..arlow??? :-)

No..none of that.

cpu power stepping enabled...dont know what is that, but I guess something with overclocking or so.

Anyway my PC is working fine with XP and same software.
So I guess IRQ is not issue.

Now with WIN 7 i have this glitches and pops etc as described below.

I just dont understand why we have to go through this everytime we install any Windows OS?

It would be good that Sonic Core gives set up for Windows 7 so people can work fine with their equipment as it should be.

CPU Power Stepping is a BIOS setting, so the tweaks GaryB mentioned need to be done in BIOS (if you havent already) .

S|C do recommend the BIOS tweaks :

Although I dont think it mentions powerstepping, this is different from overclocking. bottom line is it needs to be turned off in BIOS.

Thanks, but I dont have any of Core i7, i5, i3.

I have Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600.

Why should I tweak BIOS when is working fine with XP?
