Getting scope to work in PT 9 native - an ongoing adventure

Post by the19thbear »

Just thought i would share my insights in getting PT9 to work with scope (almost..)
Ill be updating as soon as i hopefully find out more and crack the the nut..
My system:
DP67bg intel bord
quad core 3,4hgz
4gb ram
win 7 32 bit
1x scope 6 dsp PCI card.
scope v. 5.0
NO irq conflicts with my scope card.
-i have not done any of the PT windows 7 tweaks ( had done it before, but never helped, and did a fresh install of win7)

I dont know if this is an issue only with my motherboard, but whenever i load rtas plugins (wrapped with fxpansions converter) i get massive CPU spikes when scrolling/tweaking buttons etc on plugins)
The fix: Go to device manager, and doubleclick your soundcard, by default the number of midi ports is set to "2" ) dont ask me why.. my scope card only has 1 port!?!

If you lower that number to "1" and click ok, the problems (almost) go away.
(and while you are at it, uncheck the "reset board if idle")
You can now make a new session in PT 9 and load alot of plugins without ANY cpu spikes.
*THE PROBLEM*: as soon as you close PT and reopen the same session with all the plugins you just loaded, you will have the same problem again.... CPU spikes!
If you feel like it, you could always import into a new session everytime you open up your project, and it should work. but thats still a hassle.

I'll return with updates as soon as AVID releases the PT10 demo.
Meanwhile - im open to any suggestions!:)

Hi 19thB,

Are you using SFP mode or VSTIM/XTC?

Cheers!
