How to solve STS sampler problems (crashes etc...)

Post by musurgio »

Hi,
I just found the answer to my sts crashing problems.
First of all you will need at least 1gb memory.
Secondly to avoid crashes, at least in my system, I did the following...
My P4B-E asus is 133 fsb using old sdram 133 memory.
Now at bios settings I used 100 as fsb, instead of the maximum 133 , that maybe lowers the actual cpu frequency, but I don't care about that for the purpose of running a pc as a Pulsar STS hardware sampler !!!
Now I used 1:1 ratio for cpu/memory, meaning that the memory chips , two kingston value ram 512mb sticks, run at 100 instead of the maximum 133, that help them to run smoother...
ALSO I changed from the 2T to the 3T cas for memory and used 7 cas delay for ram.
I uncehcked all , lan, audio on board, parallel port, etc except for the usb and I have now for a couple of hours, at least, a very stable STS3000 running and loading 128 harddisk based instruments ALL at once and playing via program changes from a remote keyboard, all sounds by simply changing preset number buttons on the controller.
Hope this will help because the sound of STS sampling engine is UNBELIEAVABLE !!!!!

Regards,
Dimitrios
