Process monitor

Post by spacef »

Better than windows default process explorer, as you can see processes, sub-processes, cache use, etc etc...

Really useful. I'm always checking viruses through process explorers and msinfo but this one seems to beat them all.

Merci Spacef.

Great! I was already looking for something like this, as i always thought the standard windows
process explorer was a bit unreliable ...

Lol! It might be infected, like the mushrooms! Even if it is a sysinternal process

Too bad! I've been late on this one.

You mean, you accidentally posted the french site instead of the international one?

I havent used any anti-virus software on my machines for the last 5 years or so, but if anyone asks me to install something to keep virusses off their machine because they don't know how to behave on the web, and/or how to configure their machines to avoid getting infected in the first place, I give them AVG.

PS: It's all about some french reputation to maintain...

I don't think AVG does Win Server 2003 though...
I mean... Freely!

If I have to pay 4 my web/sftp & other thing server, then I'll go to whichever company is able to demonstrate what it can do with it... And I'm not downloading porn with my dc win server 2003 by the way...

What's wrong with AVG? The only things I change on it are 1) schedule scans only monthly instead of daily, for office people and disable it completely for audio people, and 2) disable the signature it adds to your outgoing email by default.

Hey at0m,

We've used AVG free for years always just making 'priority' updates, but they recently discontinued support for older versions & have basically forced users to install the new 8.5.xxx version which guess what... is either a piece of trash or doesn't like running on older computers like this P3 we use for the net. I'm still not sure what the story is, but it's seriously slowing down this machine. I'm thinking of ditching it if I can't get it running better. I bet the non-freeware version runs better.

Are you freely scanning via a server policy with AVG?

Completely off topic:
If french people can be taxed of chauvinism, then what about English people, American people, Chinese people, Canadian people or Netherlands people ?

Some little provocation by the way...

I use eset nod32 on all my windows OS's here, can second it. If you multiboot you can use 1 license for the whole machine (except for virtual OS's which require an additional license). Version 2.7 is the 'light' version, version4 is the 'latest' version. I use v4 but 2.7 is a good match for someone who only wants the least amount of overhead or has an older PC (as in older than 6 years). I do NOT use the 'internet security' version, I'm not a fan of fully integrated suites (but this is going to change eventually as you won't be able to distinguish the two.)
