ADAT/Optical Outputs to a consumer 5.1 surround

Post by jksuperstar »

Any tricks/tips/advice on connecting an XITE to a consumer receiver via optical?

I am going to try doing this tonight, but was curious if SCOPE supports multi-channel compressed SPDIF or some way of doing 5.1 surround output to a consumer device. I'd like to avoid doing the full analog thing sending each channel and subwoofer to the consumer device's preamp inputs if possible, and stick not only to one cable output, (keeping my A16 free), but also use 1 single cable...making it easier to connect in various test locations.

If I select "S/PDIF Opt" in the settings, I can get a connection, but only stereo (only channels 1 & 2 of the ADAT device will end up being heard). There doesn't seem to be Dolby or DTS encoder.

So, I guess I need to use a few A16 outs into the 5.1 channel inputs for this task.
......reeeaacching for -10dbu switch...I hate having to use that mode :(
