I know that in Windows 7 you must run STS5000 in administrator mode and that this breaks drag-n-drop of samples into STS5000 from Explorer.

How else does one import samples into STS5000? That was the only way I knew to do it!

But You can use the scope explorer : file-> fileBrowser...
