just wondering how the STS work as regards this......

something i've found missing from a lot of samplers, is the ability to easily swap the waveform (sample) in a preset.

generally i'll have say a folder of bass sounds, so if i set up a Bass preset on my sampler i want to be able to try out different samples easily. Generally the length will be similar so i want to keep my Envelope settings etc. Being able to audition the sound "in place" from the file browser is always handy. eg say you have your sequencer playing your bassline, as you highlight the sample in the file browser it loads it into memory in place of your current sample and plays it in your bassline.

Even without auditioning the ability to easily replace samples by using say up/down arrows on the sampler GUI rather than a file browser dialog (check out Jeskola XS-1 or Propellerheads Reason NNXT) is very useful and allows for quick auditioning of different samples in your mix.

these are some of the samplers that currently do this...

it's not something i can really check out without having the software in front of me.

thanks
