Maybe it would be better if some third party developed a totally new sampler instead.

Wicked idea!

Seeing as they have never had time to update it....

Actually I tend to agree.
I decided a while back to make my CPU my sampling mayhem playground and use various VSTi sampling devices.

And then Creamware would take on some of the synths and all the DSP and mixing.

No, I think there is a great demand for an original sampler for the SFP, although someone mentioned that maybe it could be incorporated into the modular series.

Renoise is a good host if you want powerful sampling alongside SCOPE. The built-in sampler/audio editor and powerful envelopes and LFOs makes sampling very convenient IMO.

As long as there will be a new (bugfree) sampler one day within the SFP platform ...

I haven't had so much complaints about the STS series as others here on the forum, untill version 4.0 came out, because now STS really IS useless when using stereo samples (the annoying phase issue). The GUI could be better indeed, but that was not my biggest irritation. Right now I don't own any VSTi sampler, and I bought the STS-5000 when I was not aware of the existing bugs in STS and SFP 4.0 (Yes I know, my bad).
But is it too much asked to have a good working sampler? (or at least a bugfix for this) Because we all paid good money for it, haven't we  At least I have with the STS-5000...

I agree with you. Creamware certainly knows that the sts range is not functioning properly under 4.0. Its their job to make the update asap. Why this hasn't been done yet is very strange.I stopped making music because of this as the sampler is the heart of my 'studio'.I'm already saving money for the possible new sampler/update, so creamware: Let's make things better..

right on!!

Same probs here also, now I rely on the sts 4000 which works fine on version 4. Bye bye to pitch shifting etc... at least untill it gets fixed who knows when.

A feature to add could be portamento for use with the autochord mode.
