Personally I don't think that's a great interface, only advantage it really has is that its all in 1 window (mostly).

Just my opinion

I would agree that the STS needs an overhaul but I think that's a pretty commonly held opinion.

To me, the sts gui is useful!
I like it. There are other things to do:
stereo issue
phase problem

By the way, have u seen that gui?

I like that posted GUI - much better than the STS imho. Having everything on one screen eliminates annoying "click-deep fishing trips". But then the STS is one of my all-time least used pieces of kit.

Personally, I thought the GUI was pretty horrible - on a high-resolution display, the controls are too small & cluttered (and the labels appear out-of-focus too!)

I like the way the STS5000 can expand to show all 16 programs. I like it functionally, and for some reason, I like the look of it a lot more. I'd like to have the "lcd backlight" and text be contrast-adjustable, and to have a choice of colors.

I DON'T like the way I have to open the file browser and the pool windows and scoot them around. It's distracting.
The pool is important, especially for selecting patches from soundfont banks. Not having the pool on the STS2000p is weird.

I mainly posted it to show whatall could be jammed into one screen.

Somehow there has to be a tradeoff between cluttered GUI's, and menu fishing expeditions - or having to slide windows around to gain access.

Oh well, nice to see everyone's opinions.

The Ed!son sampler from Terratec. All on one screen, much easier to use than STS series.

Also all saves into one file, so no need to keep lots of directorys full of *.wavs that yo mustn't edit, and preset files.

Best sampler UI I can think of is Ableton Live. Of course its gained way more functionality since 1.0 and now has stuff tucked away everywhere. I think Creamware is also of similar opinion as (supposedly) the new logo was designed with that aesthetic in mind.
