Good luck.
It's a crap shoot anymore as newer technologies are added, more OS crap too.
But ever since ASRock started building server boards, that experience trickled over into consumer boards and I have had great times.
I work live so have ZERO tolerance for failure.
Actually have never had a single failure until I performed in 110 degree heat and my poorly ventilated 1U Chassis forced my CPU to throttle down.

Since then I use ASRock Server boards because their DIMM Modules are perpendicular to the I/Os that allows fans to cool the RAM as well as the CPU.
Still using Z97 chipsets though.

The Anniversary board should work fine.
32bit PCI Slots I've never tried, but see no reason why it shouldn't work.

4790k is bad ass.
Run it @ 4.4GHz and you'll never worry about running out of juice.

Zebra2 HZ with Diva Filters is the biggest locked core synth out there.
The Diva Filters eat up CPU Cycles big time.
I can use high polyphony and 2 Diva DCFs with dual XMF DCFs and hit maybe 70%.

The same preset killed my i7 3770k.

Be festive...

its all good now, Bought and installed a nEw Asrock MOBO and it seems to be all good now!
:) Gary was correct, my previous motherboard ( MSI GAMING 3 ) had some issues it seems, or was just shitty.

So no complains on the i7 4790k from my part! glad this is finally resolved

that's good!

there are actually a lot of motherboards that just don't work correctly, even though they are new. it happens.

Hi, on the subject of things not working correctly - On X79 with MSI X79A-GD45 the rear USB 3 ports did not work. I was puzzled, then looking into this, the USB drivers / controllers were Renesas so I Googled it. The returned search showed up companies like Dell and Lenovo laptops that used the same software for their system.

I downloaded two of these items and after a little fuss the rear USB 3 ports started working. Not 100% conclusive as sometimes items can be switched off IN BIOS but they started working.

My conclusion correctly or not was ----- Renesas in this case make the drivers for MSI, so it's not MSI tech - It's getting used to trouble shooting which Scope users know all about.
