How clean are the digital converters

Post by Music Manic »

I've just read that digital converters can be contaminated RFI and wondered how Scope ones are in dealing with it? Are x-ite ones better than the A16. Further to this how dies z-link, adat, Spdif, and just the plain analogue outs compare?

Would the A16 outs be "cleaner" than the analogue outs or isn't it worth bothering about?

P.S. I hope your hangovers are faring well.

Thanks

the A16 has the potential to be better than the analog i/os because of rfi, as you suspect.

the A16 Mk2 and XITE are much better.

no, it's probably not worth any worry, but it might influence some of your actions...the analog outs should be sufficient for serious monitoring. use the more convenient connector, but balanced connectors first(if available and if it will go to a balanced destination) unless you notice an un-ignorable difference in sound from one or the other.

Thanks Gary.

I'm using balanced outs and it's not too bad really.
