Recording into VDAT and dither.

Post by Music Manic »

So if I record my mix from my DAW, which streams through ASIO into my Scope mixer, what happens to the audio signal if I set VDAt to record in 16bit? Is it automatically being dithered or does it get truncated?

Thanks.

truncated, and that is usually best for most pop music.
dither will help with very dynamic music(usually meaning acoustic sounds) much more than it will in types of music that have fairly limited dynamic range like dance music, rock and hip hop.

That's interesting. So if I wanted to keep lower level information I would record in 32 bit then dither down.

Thanks Gary
