Win8 32bit to Win8 64bit

Post by fidox »

Hi !

I have a question !
Currently i'm using Win8 pro 32-bit and "if" i install 64-bit version, will my 32-bit applications work under 64-bit ?
There's a lot software already running under 64-bit, but all others which not, will still work under 64-bit version?

Thanks for any kind of help and experiences arround that !

Best,
Matej

I'm doing the opposite. I'm adding a second boot for x86 win7, because audio work in 64bit has too few gains for all the limitations that come with it. There is a patch for 32bit windows to get access to more memory, but each application will still only see 3.5GB or so.

Thanks for your opinion !
Well, i don't have any problems running 32-bit ! Maybe i was thinking that, cause some of my VST plugins needs more RAM,
and here or there i have some memory drop-outs in some VST's.
That's right now just a thought and sharing/asking for experiences.

most likely only Kontact would benefit. if you switch to 64bit, you want to install 64bit versions of your apps, if they are available. it uses resources to make a 32bit app run in a 64bit environment....
