Luna 2496 vs. Creamware A16 - Sound quality?

Post by Martin MS »

Hi all,
does anyone have any experience regarding the AD conversion quality of Creamware's old A16 compared to the Luna 2496? I was pretty happy with my Luna box and I'm looking for a replacement - there are a couple of A16s on Ebay right now ...
Thanks for any input here!

I had a similar upgrade path but that was ten years ago or more. I started out with TripleDAT then ported over to Scope Home (or whatever it was called) and a pair of Luna boxes. That setup didn't last long though. I ended up at Scope Pro and an A16 Ultra. It's been a long time though but if I remember correctly my initial thought was that the A16 had a much broader and deeper soundstage. The Luna seemed slightly "contained" or compressed in relation. I could be off a little in my assessment. I didn't spend too much time ABing them. I just noticed an improvement and didn't look back. If you can find an A16 in good condition with low hours go for it.

if you mean the A16 Ultra, it's a big upgrade. the A16 is balanced.
