Acronis

Post by dawman »

I have 1 free 3.5" SATA III slot with a 2.5" adapter to use SSDs with.
I am hoping I can buy a few more SSDs, making my OCZ and Seagate SSDs new spares, and copy one SSD at a time in the blank slot, then simply use the new clones as I have years already on these SSDs and I prefer retiring them as spares instead of waiting for a possible failure.
Is this possible with Acronis....?

yes, Acronis Migrate Easy can be used to clone a HD.
other Acronis products can also do the job, but they are more expensive for things you won't need....

Hello Everyone!

My name is Anna Trifonova and I'm writing you on behalf of Acronis Customer Central.

dawman, please check this article http://kb.acronis.com/content/2699 for Acronis products, that support SSD disks.

Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0 is a rather old program and it doesn't support SSD.

Depending on your OS you might want to test Acronis True Image 2014 http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/trueimage/ or Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/ ... iness.html

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,
Anna Trifonova

I have that effect on women.
The love / hate thing extends across multiple levels, and multiple dimensions.
It was GaryB who answered my questions though, so the Acronis babe needs to hook him up.

If it helps, I successfully imaged XP Home from a failing OWC SSD Mercury Extreme Pro 3 250GB to a Seagate Cheetah SAS 300GB using Macrium Reflect Pro, and got the system to work fine even after mistakenly choosing a different HAL version during deployment.

I used XXClone, Acronis, and Shadow Protect. Shadow Protect has been the industry standard for quite some time, but it's got too many options. Acronis is great if you set it up right, and there are some weird options. XXClone is best for cloning. For what it's worth, nothing impressed me more than Macirum though.
