i7 LGA1366 MoBo with 3 pci slots?

Post by petal »

and room for 2-slot PCI-E Gfx cards - does it exist?

I plan to update my old Scope machine. I use the machine to play games as well, which is why I'd like to fit in a heavy duty gfz card along side my 3 scope cards (I know this isn't the best thing to do, but it has worked out fine in this machine for years now :) )

My problem is that I can't find any i7 LGA1366 MoBo's that meets my criteria:

1. 3 x PCI (3 scope cards)
2. Room for a 2 slot PCI-E Gfx Card

Can any of you guys help me out?

I might have to lose the third Scope card in order to do this upgrade, but I'd prefer not to.

Cheers,
Thomas

ps. and for the curious, Civilization V is out, and it has some pretty crazy system requirements: http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930/ ;)

Here's a Scoper for Ya'.

The Triple Channel RAM is a must for Kontakt 4.1.1.
The polyphony and stacking is out of hand with these sampled based apps, so they require an out of hand solution.

Thx Jimmy!

Close but unfortunately no cigar. The suggested Mobo has 3 PCI slots yes, but there's no room for a 2-slot PCI-E gfx if I use all 3 PCI slots.

I'found Mobo's that meets my requirements for the LGA1156 based CPU's, but not the LGA1366 ones. At some point it is bound to show up on market :)

Here's your daily bread.
You can also load up the 48GB's of DDR3 with thousands of worthless variations of Pizzacato by 5' tall women, by 6' tall men, outdoor pizzacato on tiled floor w/ and w/o carpet.
I takes 1-2 hours for a 24GB loaded template......
I think we are ready for ROM based motherboards and embedded samples.....

I believe you have found a mobo that meets my requirements, maybe even exceeds them ;)

Dual CPU - I must say the concept is tempting, and adding to the fact that you have your details about the mobo wrong only makes it all more exciting. The suggested Mobo, handles up to 192GB of RAM and not "only" 48GB ;)

Has anyone had any experience running Scope on the "Intel® 5520 (Tylersburg)/ICH10R + IOH-36D" chipset"?

I'd prefer not to be the first one to do this if I actually decide to go for this solution.

Cheers,
Thomas

Yes but using 2GB FB DIMM's will be your best bet.
4GB FB DIMM's @ 1066 work better than the 1333 versions but at that size the load times are extremely painful.
I still have a working Supermicro P4SCT+II from 2004 so that Dog Should Also Hunt.
Come back when you have it up an running to confirm my suspicions.

Thx for all your help Jimmy - I'm beginning to think that the LGA 1366 is a nogo for my needs at the moment though. So if you have any recommendations on a LGA1156-based system (I seem to remember you talking about one in here somewhere) I'd love to hear about it here: http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=29521

Thank you so much man. I've been looking for something like this for a while.

the Supermicro is a GREAT motherboard with top notch support. the chipset is the commercial XEON chipset. i doubt you'll have a problem.
