Hi again,

Well I did a fresh install if Win 7 on another drive and no extra drivers except for LAN and the same issue is still there. Could my motherboard be bad? I will try with an older motherboard, I have a couple around. Could a bad card cause this?

Thanks,

-Tom

it's highly unlikely that it's the card. Scope does a systems check when it starts.

i have seen two bad socket 1150 motherboards. both were Asus. i'm not sure that it means anything, but perhaps there was a batch of bad PCI controller chips or something, since plenty of Asus boards work perfectly....

Actually a bad PCI controller sounds more likely... I have a PCI-e to PCI adapter board. I will try it and report...

Thanks for your input.

oh, then your performance is normal. adapter boards don't work very well.

timing is critical with a Scope card. throughput is just part of the story. if the system can't process the data like, RIGHT NOW, then the theoretical limit is just that, theoretical. the actual limit will be much lower. it's impossible for the adapter to do that much realtime work, it wasn't made for that.

I was not using the adapter. I had Scope Pro plugged into the PCI slot directly. But WITH the adapter I was able to load 9 MVs before I ran out of DSP memory. So it's the PCI controller on the motherboard. You were right. I'll get another mobo that's exactly the same and hopefully that one will not have the glitch... I wonder if I still have warranty on this motherboard. I could RMA it.

Appreciate your help with troubleshooting. I was not able to test with older motherboards as the computers don't seem to boot anymore. I guess they're too old.

sure. yes, that model motherboard SHOULD work correctly.

Gary was right :)

I can load 10 MVs on 3 Scope Pros now before I get an error. My motherboard was bad, I'm gonna RMA it.

Motherboard: Asus Z87-K
Scope 5.1 Windows 7 x64
RAM: 16GB 1600MHz Kingston

I was getting around 2-3 MVs on the "bad" motherboard.

Hi tlaskows,

Does your motherboard (Asus Z87-K) work with the 3 Scope cards and 2 PCIe (UAD/Poco) altogether? I am looking to upgrade my current system. I have 3xP2 and 2xUAD1 PCIe and would like them in one system.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes,

I have 3 Pro cards in my system and two UAD-2. Seems to work just fine. No more PowerCore though...

Tom,

Many thanks for the info. Buying one as I type.

no problem. Make sure you do a MV test to ensure the board is good. I was only able to load 2-3 MVs because the PCI controller had a fault...

Finally got around to it!

HP XW4600, 2.8Ghz Quad, Win7 64, 8GB, Scope 5.1 64

Scope Pro, Pulsar 2, Luna 2

10 MV (Empty Project)

This is great. Thanks to everyone on PZ, especially garyb, I was able to revive my Scope as the centerpiece of my setup again and resurrect the cards by putting them in a PC that cost me less than $250 :D

10 MasterVerbs is not bad. That's all I can get. I never use them anyway lol. I don't mix in Scope.

30 Masterverbs, and the 31st gave me a DSP LIMIT warning.

RAM: 16GB DDR3 2400 (HyperX)
Scope 5.1 Windows 8.1 x86

It also seems to load at 1ms @ 96kHz

I got the message on the 61st Master Verb SDRAM module.
Same time that the DSP Meter appeared to be full too.

Have no idea what these tests actually do.
According to Frax77 the MVerb he made for us uses the on chip RAM Juergen attached to
the ADSP-21369s.
I'm a hardware Reverb guy, but I do use the Scope Plate X and the SDRAM Master Verb
since I hate wasting a hardware reverb for a couple of gated sounds I use on percussive
synth presets and Horn Sections.

masterverb tests only matter to PCI cards...

So I guess the XITE-1 using 60+ Master Verbs is a way to test the DSP loads maybe.
Starts with DSP 18 then fills them up all the way to DSP 7.

My XITE-1 is such a pleasure and mission critical unit I begged Juergen to get the very first A32 to match my XIYTE-1 serial # 0001. He agreed.....Ankyu.

Lots of new Buss and Sub Mixers with integrated hardware for years more of trouble free fun and cash.
