really punchy drums in get what you need. A good dose of new wave.

I really like "Echoes-to Tempo". It has a nice early 80's Moroder feel to it. Even the vocalist has that quality about her. I would love if you put a stripped down break in the center. Make it a 12" mix. Really, really nice track!
"I Just Feel" is my second favorite. Again great track + nice sounding vocalist. I wish the drums were a little more night clubby. The snare especially would be nicer if it were tighter and louder and brought to the front of the mix. The synths are lovely!
Thanks for sharing!

Many of the drum sounds in "get what you need" are from the "Transistor Punch" library (except the kick I think).kensuguro wrote:really punchy drums in get what you need. A good dose of new wave.
Thanks ! I'm also tempted to make it 1 or 2 bpm faster53E7 wrote:I really like "Echoes-to Tempo". It has a nice early 80's Moroder feel to it. Even the vocalist has that quality about her. I would love if you put a stripped down break in the center. Make it a 12" mix. Really, really nice track!
(and to remove the very last part....)
Thanks a lot !! For this version, I wanted the snares a bit "rocky and dark".53E7 wrote: "I Just Feel" is my second favorite. Again great track + nice sounding vocalist. But I could try something tighter in the future.

Nice ! Where did you get the voices in 'get what you need' ? A friend singer girl ? I wish I know good singer...
Re: 3 tracks from SpaceF 2013 (from an 8 - 10 EP/LP to be re
"Get what you need" contains mostly samples or bits of samples from many sample banks. It is hard to tell exactly which bank after the song is made.
I try to collect every vocal sample library or vocal samples in non-vocal libraries. I also compiled my recording with friends to be able to extract words or sounds.
There are a lot of vocal samples on the market. it's not expensive, and the interest is to make something new with something that everyone can have, by modifying melodies, rythmic placement and so on... And I have no choice anyway, because good vocalists are scarce ressource in the self-production/DIY world.

the chorus in "From here to eternity" is the kind of things I would have loved to write ! ...

Great stuff man! Just right...
The mood is different in each track, even tho the tempo is quite similar (I think).
Very nicely mixed, especially 'Echoes To Tempo'. Big synth pads dosed in reverb that aren't forward in the mix - works great.
Also enjoyed 'Get What You Need', altho at times there's alot going on. The breakdowns really work tho. And it's a catchy tune. And the slowly-phased / band-passed pad from 3:37 sounds a treat.
Impressed with the variety of drum sounds from Maschine....
Did you process them alot?

Not because it is easy, but because it is hard...

there is equalization indeed!Eanna wrote: Did you process them alot?
then reverb and sometimes "sidechain" with the modular mixer. For example, the first snare in "I just feel" is a long noise shaped by the sidechainers adsr or ahd.
