Made in -84

Post by zangsta »

I spent a few days last week, remastering an old cassette-release I made.
At the time I was building my second studio, and had just gotten into releasing stuff on my own label.
I had given up my dreams of getting a band together, the guitar was collecting dust, and I was experimenting with the new technology of the time.
I had the idea of maybe getting to do a soundtrack.

I had the song "Theme for an imaginary western" by Jack Bruce in mind,
when I subtiled this cassette, "Starseed", as " the soundtrack of an imaginary science-fiction "

I don´t remember that much about actual equipment used, ....a Roland TR-303,
a Yamaha CS-40, duo-phonic synth. Some bass and real piano on this one.
Tascam 8 track....hmmm...not all forgotten.

Way ahead of the curve on that take, no doubt.

'84 was when I first got a QX-1 and we weren't even thinking of electro but progressive rock. Your electro style was just a little early mate.

It sounds well done for an 8 track, but that just shows, you don't need 48 or even 24 tracks to get a good take.

Nice work Zangsta, I knew you were fierce.

What in the hell did that sci-fi voice?

Nice, Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, JImmy ! ! :P

I´m glad you liked it !
It´s bit scary to post stuff, my selfconfidence is not that good...

I think you are right,
I was probably way out of synch there, as far as trends go.

The space-voice??
Is that the part that come about half-way into the song?
That´s a piano in left channel, and a base-guitar in the right channel,
playing the same riff,
and your brain hears mostly the sonic marriage of the two
in the middle.... it does sound like a male choire at times...
Otherwise, it has to be the cs-40.

Take care

Jörgen

Yeah, definitely nice 80's and cool, hypnotic.

You know, you metion self-esteem, which we all go through I suppose, but I reckon this would be a great track to redo with Scope & VSTi technology and the pleasure that you'd get from doing it..............

Enjoyed it
