Midi Note Select

Post by mausmuso »

A new Midi filter device for you.
it was suggested by 53E7 way back in 2013.
It is quite simple.
You can select/deselect notes across 88 keys by clicking on the LED above each key.
There is also the Midi filter for channels and Note messages.
The Midi Note In readouts show the last note you played.
This will sound (or not) based on whether the Note is selected or not.
its all saveable as presets and you can CC each control for automation if you want.
I have made a couple of presets based on notes from major scales :)
Now you will never play the wrong notes again

Great ! You've almost done a midi chorder !
A midi chorder like in cubase would be excellent for non keyboard players : you play one finger, and it outputs the chord that start at the key played by the non keyboard player finger...
But your device is nice : if I get it, whatever notes you play, it outputs only the ones with the led on, right ? If it works like that, that's a great non keyboard player help ! Just need to create all minor & major scales presets ! Excellent !

Hi JoPo
Its not as sophisticated as you suggest.
The Leds merely turn the keys on or off.
It does not transpose 'off' notes to the nearest 'on' note, although that is a thought.
While I built it, I actually have no use for such a device at this time, it was a request from 53E7 that started me thinking about how to switch every key across 88 keys.
I am not sure whether a major/minor scale device was part of the original thinking or not.

Possible uses are for reserving some notes on your keyboard for triggering samples, or program changes to a drum sequencer.

Or making all tonic notes across come from a different synth than all other notes? ;)
