Just a small device, quite simple (I'm wondering if someone else already developed it resp. why not).
Anyway:
Audio input is fed to a crossover filter which splits it into two signals, depending on crossover freqency.
These go into two insert chains, which are finally mixed together again.
There are two VU meters which inputs can be freely chosen for each of the two bands.
That's all.
I'm using it like this:
Low frequencies are monoed while the highs will be nicely spread.
The PEQs can add some extra spice to the mix.
I'm using it as a Master or Bus insert.

SSB Modulator > HPLP36 Filter using 440Hz Crossover = Deadly Delay trails with dNa Optimus Prime.

That's it ! A great tool ! A very simple idea with enormous result...
I put Celmo phaza on low freq and SPL transient on high all this on a clavinet... It's absolutely phenomenal !

indispensable in mastering!
many thanks roy!
look forward in 2016
v2 mod/dev with extern insert I/O...?
v3 mod/dev with more than 2 flt-channels...?
v4 ...great filter crossover bank...?

v2-what do you mean with extern I/O?
v3-yes, I thought of a 3(or more) way crossover version too- let's see
v4-filter crossover bank

ok, i mean separate extern inserts (outputs/ inputs) per filter-channel
for hardware, vst and and ...
... as well encoder > ext dev > decoder...or so
in add with sample delay for compensation phase per filter-channel
crossoverbank... i see 8 channel, and more
> EQsplit (encoder) with separate outputs
< EQmix (decoder) with separate inputs
see vocoder filterbank but with separate outputs per filterchannel
