Hi all,

I'm pleased to give you my first new Scope device creation in over 5 months - SPACE EQ. It's a very simple stereo-only device that combines EQs based on on Creamware's excellent 2-band parametric with a spacial technique which doesn't involve delay or reverberation. The spacial effect can be turned off simply by turning the 'SPACE' parameter fully left. There's also a softclip at the output stage which can be switched on & off.

The Low & High frequency EQ parameters all use stepped potentiometers for ease of making very quick settings. The EQ values & ranges have been set up with the sole idea in mind that the device can be used for mixing & mastering purposes (probably with no or very little use of the SPACE parameter, which is a special effect for those who like to dabble with experimental mixing techniques). I made SPACE EQ for my own mixing knowing that I will sometimes wish to mix with 3 or 4 dB boosts at 60-80Hz & 8-16kHz.

This device actually sounds like the different mic positions that so many guys rave about on the romplers.
The Space knob fully left, 12 o'clock, then fully right gives me 3 " mic " positions on my fake Grands.
These developers actually have everybody Buffalo'd into thinking they actually re recorded 12 different mic positions, with different 4000 dollar mics, etc.
And here comes a DSP device that even sounds cleaner...

nice one, but the eq doesn't seem to be working at least I'm not hearing any difference from -4 to 4 on the high or low. The gui is sweet, as always.

It works, Jah.... Its very subtle, but it works. Chances you will hear any changes are of course bigger at 8 than at 16. way i testetd it was to have a long sustained sawtooth chord from minimax, then juggeling the gain dial.

Jah, I might make a special version with x2 & x3 multipliers for the gain parameters, so that the gain can be switched from +/- 1,2,3,4 to 2,4,6,8 & 3,6,9,12 dB. I should maybe have done that anyway, but I wanted to keep it subtle, so that the myself & any other user is limited & can't over-use EQ. Anyway, it won't be for a few days because it involves some extra graphics work for paging the gain surrounds, but I'm busy with other projects at the moment.

put some full mixdowns (unmastered) through it and it gave them a lovely sound, I deliberately chose some boxy middy stuff and with settings around the +3 at 60hz and 16khz with 3 quarter drive and a tidgeon of space, they sounded mastered without any limiting or multibanding. Beautiful.

I loved the fact that as the settings are subtle you can screw the hell out of the dials without wondering if you've gone too far.

Thanks Dave. I'm really pleased to hear that someone's tried it in that sort of situation & liked the result. When I was using it the other day I was thinking of a way to improve it, but I don't have time at the moment.

I finally got some time to check this one out.
And, Shroomz, this was a pleasant surprise !
It´s a great tool for a guy like me with plenty of old recordings to
some day bring up to a better standard, thanks a lot !!

Space EQ is simply brilliant...!
Now I think it´s just as indispensible and useful as Tony Chacheres Creole Seasoning!!
It can be used on everything !
I have it last in chain after Knottsbox V & FX, and it´s great !

This EQ is really special.
I love the way it enhances stereo on higher frequencies and those eq settings are ideal for adding depth to computer made music.

As a UAD user im amazed at the amount of quality free devices for Scope.. If UA made this it would be at least $200

I have recently started exploring this device and loving it on the master bus.
(I usually put around 1/3 distortion and a small touch of space - and depending on the material - a light smiley eq, or frown with high q ... Or no eq ...

But I really like the Thickness it adds !
