C4TSTIK modular v0_1

Post by sharc »

C4TSTIK modular is based on a rare joystick modulation device called the CATSTICK. It features 4 ins and 16 outs plus a remote edit panel. All connections are audio, but it's best used as a modulation mixer. So far it's been tested with various CW oscillators/LFO's and sequencers, although I would like to hear if it's flexor compatible. It's still an early beta, so no presets yet

As always any comments/feedback are most welcome!

sharc,
this is a crazy cool device....

I`m stunned how you pull out the stuff in a regular basis and in a quality on its own.

A true entusiast ! :o :o :o :o

So its some sort of flexible control module? right?

one can easily see how much effort you have put into this one.

Sounds interesting....
Is it some new cat technology you're betatesting for your (almost forgotten) Cat synth project ?....

Looks promising, like usual.

Thanks a lot Sharc

Hopefully :D

YES and NO ....this was originally planned for the C4T, but I decided instead to go with different modulation options. Don't worry!! the C4T isn't shelved :)

It will all make sense in due time.

its a pretty cool and well thought device, and if someone has a midi control keyboard with a joystick it is much more flexible than a modulation or pitch wheel.

The different outputs variations make it extra flexible, and by the way I like the idea of a small mod module being able to be expanded via an edit button.
Thats just very cool.

think about a MRCII device in that way.

lots of "joystick to midi" software out there, google it! that way you could probably use a cheap gamepad to control your scope synths/modulars :)

Yes I've got myself a cheap gamepad and some free midi software to do just that. But the level of control this device offers in modular is just not possible or at best very difficult to achieve with the standard midi approach.
Neutron even released a joy to midi device.

O.K.,
You guys know I am lame with computers and such. Could anyone give me a tip on what to buy to get this to work for me. I would love to mount it on my controller by the Kurzweil Ribbon. I love using the ribbon for contolling the sweeping of waves in QWave, ProWave, and Solaris, but the x / y module in modular really needs a joystick IMHO, and this could work with that and Sharcs device right?

This place has turned me into a synth wacko, but I am catching on as my ideas here may not be popular, the group I am rehersing with now treats me like I am worthy of praise. I love working with young motivated players, and also love being worshipped. It's good for my already overblown ego.

I am picturing this,.....a nice soundscape where I could use the joystick to move sound like a rolling curtain on a stage. SSB Modulator does this in a sense, but I really liked the Kyma digital synths because they could be morphed into other sounds zipper free, and just the thought of playing with one hand for a few moments to make some trippy sounding shit, gives my head and hands a well desrved break.

lol
Could I stick this up my ass and rub up against my speakers so I could still use both hands on my synths?
