Hi Robbie,

Thanks for the project which I have integrated in Luna.
I have a problem in that my midi signal coming from Cubase is not reaching Luna. I have been trying almost everything for the last couple of days.
Do you have an idea what could be the problem? I am using VST 5.1 and Luna 3.01 on Windows XP.

The guys at creamware suggested that I changed the number of devices in device mgr to 1 instead of 2 but it did not help. On Midi sync in everything is working but not in sync out.

Maybe the problem lies in the fact that on sync out, I can still see two Luna devices (but I have only enabled the first one) whereas in sync in there is only one.
There might also be a problem in my synchronisation page (?).

If you have any ideas or a cubase song which I could test as setup I would appreciate it!

Marcus

Hi Smokey Joe,

I'll give a step-by-step simple setup.

1° Open CW OS, load only following:
-ASIO source/dest,
-Seq. Midi Source/Dest 1 each,
-MiniScope
-MicroMixer
-Analog Dest
Connect Seq Midi Source to MiniScope, MS to mixer and mixer to analog dest.

2° Open Setup MME for Cubase, enable only the #1 Luna I/O's (ignore/disable the others)

3° Open Cubase.
-Go to Midi Filtering, disable output filter for the stuff you want to send. For Luna devices that will mostly be notes and CC#.
-Route midi track to the Luna Midi Port.
-Write some notes on the track.

Call for more if it doesn't work.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Does anyone else have problems running this project? Of all the people who I have sent this project to only one or two people have written to me to tell me it works. If it doesn't please can I know so that I can change it.

Karem, do you have any activity in the channel mixer of Luna when you play a synth for example? Which output are your speakers connected to?

I'll have a look at this project today. I can't help you with samplitude as I don't know anything about it so I wouldn't know what drivers to use.

Best wishes,

Rob

Right, I've just tested this project with my setup and it works fine !!

The only change I made was to load in the z-link module and connect the mix L and R to the z-link dest as this is where my monitors are connected.

Remember that the analogue input on your card is connected to inputs 7 and 8 of the mixer and uses ASIO 2 (the spdif input is ASIO 1). So to record something connected to your card's input just select ASIO 2 for recording in Cubase.

The return signal from Cubase is going into inputs 3 and 4 of the mixer.

Midi works fine.

Come on guys- half the work is done for you if you are using this project. Its up to you now to read the manuals for Luna AND cubase. The luna software is capable of so many more poweful features that I haven't included in this project.

Hi Robbie,(I'm Karim I have change my user name) thinks you; you are the only persone ho try realy to help news Luna's users.
Exuse me for my bad english cause I'm a moroccan and englich is only our 3d language.
For a long time I didn't see your response to me so I'm gona giving you more precisions:
I have a Luna II without box2496.
PC with 1.7 Ghz, 256 Mo DDR Ram, matrox double screen (17" and 22" monitors) but I don't
have a good mother card because I'm waiting to get an asus with RDRAM or better than this,
for the moment a have a PC400 as mother bord.
I have 2 hard disc 40 Go each one (7200 tr/mn), no scsi for the moment....
I hope that I can use my luna and then we can know better each other; I'm a guitar and drum
player and I make arrange for artists here...
If you like mix your music you must try samplitude 2496 it's very goud logiciel for this.
Now for my problem with lunaII:
I have tryed your basic project ( it's not too basic: 24 bit ), when I enter a analog
signal (external CD player) into the physical analog input of luna I can see the vue metters
of V2 Mixer swingin and the signal go out from analog dest to my monitors and I can heard
the music. When it hapens I was realy happy and saying to my self thinks Robbie thinks Robbie
you're an angel.
But when I try the Cubase32 there is no signal into this one: nothing with the vue metters of
consol1 or 2 or master consol of cubase and I can't heard nothings in my monitors. And when
I tryed to record each time I have a message: your last recording was too short. It's the same
when I try record 1, 2 or more than 3mn.
Same thing when I import a samples *.wav into an audio trak of cubase.
You must know that I have choice Asio scope in option audio system in cubase and that
I have put 24 bit and that I have tryed with samples *.wav 24 bit 96 Khz after changing
the sample rate of luna into 96 Khz and cubase's one into 96 Khz too .
I have saved your basic project as my background projet, and when I run my computer after
loading windows I have a message:

EXEPTION
nil reference on left side of

I have the same message when I close the luna logitiel (whih option activate background
project on).
Please if you can help me or send me a verry verry basic project with normal asio
(16 bit 2 chanels) and with direct sound for acid, sound forge, wave labs, samplitude2496...just to get a started
because it's 2 month that I have my luna and can't use it.

Hi Karim,

Thanks for your comments. It is a great shame you still haven't got things working. I have to say I'm at a complete loss as to what might be wrong. It sounds to me like something in Cubase is not quite setup properly.

For your information I have "global disable" selected in the audio system setup of cubase. Try changing your settings to this and see what happens. Also make sure you have ASIO 1 active in the VST inputs panel (though it sounds like you have this selected anyway). Next, make sure you are actually using the Scope asio driver in the audio system setup menu. You might be using the MME driver instead.

You have 24 bit and 44.1Khz selected in cubase by the seems of it so this should not be the problem, but just double check.

Finally, make sure your master buss outputs is selected as ASIO 1. Remember, ASIO 1 is your main output from Cubase. If you are not seeing anything in the Luna II mixer there must be a problem with the ASIO 1 output in Cubase.

If none of this fixes your problem let me know. Please e-mail me at :

kidrobbiej@madasafish.com

and I'll try my best to help you further.

Best wishes from the sunny UK !

Rob

You don't record Midi using ASIO. The ASIO drivers are purely for recording audio (including softsynths).

Hi Robbie,

First of all I'm glad to find some stuff on the web to get newbies like myself started.

I can't get the ScopeFusion Platform and Cubase to run at the same time. If SFP is on, Cubase reports that the XTC plugins won't work - and indeed they don't.

So I tried loading your Basic Cubase project in the Scope Fusion Platform, but it stops with a prompt to search for a: "Recording Mixer V2.dev"
I tried to search for it but don't think I have this device. Could there be anything I'm missing?

Best regards,
Yvo.

Hi DrEvil,
Cubase reports 'XTC doesn't work' cos SFP is already running, and SFP OS cannot be run together w XTC. You use OR SFP OS OR XTC mode. Not both at the same time. So just ignore the Cubase 'error', it's rather a warning

Hi Yvo,

When Luna reports that it is looking for the V2 Recording mixer please bare in mind that this project was compiled using the previous Luna software version. The new SFP does not contain the older recording mixer.

Give me a few days and I might see if I can update this project with all the new devices.

Best wishes,

Rob
