use of 24 48 mixer instead of 16 32.

Hello guys,

Probably a basic question for some of you.

Since I use scope I have always used the STM 16 32... I thought it could be the time to change this :)

My question is I used to connect the outputs of the mixer to my Asio Inputs like:

Image

the Asio dest are:

1L - 1R : Main Asio input (maybe not becessary)
2L : Bass in Mono
all other inputs are the instruments plugged on the ADAT (note I usually have additionnal Asio dest to plug 10 14 15 16 outputs of the mixer)

Asio source are:
1L - 1R: Main Asio outputs
2L - 2R: control the tape echo loop
3L - 3R: the bass through BAM

This allows me to route in cubase eachinstruments to a separate input in cubase and to use the tape echo as a send effect.
How is it possible to do this with another mixer (24/48)? Should I connect all the Asiodest to the Mix outputs from the 24/48 mixer?
Note usually the ouputs 10, 14 15 16 are also connected to other Asio Dests.

Thanks !

I cant see the image you attached. I think what you are looking for is to enable the Direct Outputs. This sends each input to the mixer not only to the main bus mix and aux channels, but also to it's own individual output, after it has gone through EQ and any plugins for that channel.

Thanks for your reply!

This is probably what you said, then how to activate the individual outputs? with the STM 1632 we can see all outputs on the mixer.

the image I tried to insert is: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21A ... 66&o=OneUp

hope you can see it this time.

I see the photo...yes you want to enable direct outs, and you’lol have the same ability as you do with the STM1632.

There’s two windows, one for mixing, one for adjusting an individual channel. In the channel window, on the left, you should see on the bottom left corner..”Options”, then the portion of the window above that will have a button for ”Directouts”. Selecting that, and the STM2448 in your routing window will now have 24 to 48 extra outputs...1 for mono or 2 for stereo channels. The outputs are after the compressor, eq, etc for each single channel.

Thanks much for this!

I'll try that right after work. Maybe it's time to get rid of the stm 16/32 after more than 15 years! :)
