LIVE 2015 ...NEW HARDWARE

Post by dawman »

Recently decided to ditch the X32/ADA8200 wireless stuff.
Way too many ghosts trying to deal with WiFi congestion in crowded clubs.
Even outdoor venues had problems.
Ended up getting a Peavey FX2 16.

Also added a Hammond B3/Leslie only it's a hardware module and Tube driven
FX pedal.
They are doing what I need and doing it well.

Hi, Jimmy !

On each screen you post, I can see some strange modules.. For instance, how do you rename your i/o module ? Like "Solaris", "JH audio IEMS", "spacestation" and so on ?
How can you have only aux. 4, 5, 6 on the STM mixer ??

How do you do that, Jimmy ?? :o

I want to do that too ! Names are essential with xite : there are so many modules !

Look in Tools/external devices, and you can alias any hardware I/O, save as device, and even use as an insert if you save to the effects directory. This name shows in the routing window.

Woah ! I never used any module in that directory ! And I never new this was possible and worked like that ! I thought 'save as device' was a feature totally disapeared with Scope 3 or 4, don't remember...

Many thanks, JK ! :)

Here's the new update using a Radial Plexitube I got for 99 bucks on ebay.
1 mans trash is another mans treasure....
Was using the Organ Module into the GSi Burn (Leslie + Tube) and it gets a real decent
Kansas/Uriah Heep by turning up the drive amount on the HX-3 and running lots of Tube
Gain on GSi Burn.
But it still didn't get the Deep Purple/Jon Lord sounds like he got using a Marshall
Amp Head.
So after trying different pedals at a Pedal shop in Nashville I found exactly what I needed
but wasn't about to pay 350 bucks, so the used one showed up today and I redid a little work
on routing in the XITE-1.
Now I just go from Hard Rock to Blues to Jazz using the GSi Burn or rip off peoples faces with
the Plexitube from Radial.

Also show the notes from Wolf for free at his web page, and how I use the stock Scope modules.
All are recallable using Screen Sets and shortcuts for fast viewing when performing.

Man, that looks great !
Leaves the question how you managed to make only AUXes 4, 5 & 6 visible in the STM 2448 X,- and why you did that (?).

When looking at your environment, I hate it forces me learning screensets,-just because I´m lazy. :D

great work !

Bud

P.S. and O.T.:

Aren´t you satisfied w/ the Leslie sim in HX3 and buyed the Burn because it´s better or is it because of the combination of Leslie sim, tube and additional FX in the Burn ?
Did you try a NEO Instruments Ventilator (old one, miniVent-organ or Ventilator mk II) too ?

Thanks Bud.
I liked the Vent 1 but couldn't route the FX in the order I needed so gave it to the Guitarist.
Sounds Great, he loves it.
So waited for the HX-3 and it does sound great too, just wanted a real Uriah Heep/Kansas sound.
Only way to get that was the GSi Burn. Even then still needed some Drive from the HX-3 as the GSi Burn needed a little more Drive. But that sound is precisely what I wanted.
However the Jon Lord sound was not happening.
These Rotary Pedals and the Melda MRotary/MVintage Rotary plug ins have a terrible STOP ROTOR sound quality, they even admit it and the workaround is a real slow rotor.
Not good enough I'm afraid so after severl little amps and pedals I found the Plexitube to be spot on for a Marshall head, especially the JCM800 and earlier series.

That left me with using a MIDI CC# for muting the stereo channel with HX-3/GSi Burn, and another for for the Plexitube.
That was also a PITA as I want both hands on the Keyboards. This Jan Hammer/Jordan Rudess stuff is fine but I have to always have 2 manuals or one manual playing with Piano/synth or horns.
So a custom pedal from American Loopers gave me either or with the touch of a switch, with LEDs.

The BC Modular Shells allow me to enhance SC-Plate and dNa Optimus with crossover points or EQs/Filters, so I use the Shells for 4 AUX (gated reverb for horns/crunch guitar rhythm) 5 AUX for dNa delays, and Plate-X with some SpaceF Filters to get a Lexicon ballsy reverb sound instead of just a tail.

Here's my custom switcher from American Loopers. Great DIY team and top shelf rapid builds and support.

Jimmy, for the plexi emulation, did you ever try the softube guitar amps? There's a Marshall in there. Curious if it fell short or not.

Sure didnt.
I tried Scope RingMod with a FAT II and Mojo.
Sounded good. TQDrive actually did well by itself and its stock.
But real Tubes have a fuller sound.
I immediately noticed this with the very first Triode Pedal.
Reason I went with the Plexitube is it nails that JCM 800/900 sound.
Funny my guitarist uses so many pedals I give him shit about
how I never heard a JCM 900 sound so much like a British Vox piggyback.
Even when I insult him he thanks me.

But if you ever need custom loopers or junction boxes
Try American Loopers.
These cats are sick.

Here's the finished product.
Every Hammond player I ever liked I can now play with these 2 hands free MIDI controlled modules.

Thanks Budweiser for the best Hammond / Leslie 147/122 sound I ever had.
More fun than the real unit since my feet can control every aspect.
And the sound is to die for.

Born To Be Wild, Magic Carpet Ride, Knifedge, Highway Star, Kentucky Woman, Hold Your Head Up.......

So nice to have such powerful and accurate models and the XITE-1 actually has the BX-Digital on the ADAT Destinations to the FOH.
Gets' real wide and everybody, even non musicians were commenting on how awesome this fucker sounds...
