LIVE x64 + External Hardware Synths

Post by dawman » Sat Apr 09, 2011 2:59 pm

This is the finest one yet.
It uses hardware synthesizers, DSP synths, 32 channels of Kontakt.
All MIDI automations are in realtime using Modular Patches w/ help
from at0m, and also a remade M3 Modular Leslie.

Modular patches are called up by MIDI Program Change messages,
each has total preset recall and the DAS GOST MIDI CC Filter is actually
muting all automations from Modular, while allowing MIDI Program Change.

SpaceF's Splitter 2 allows Solaris and the SE-1 to have presets call
up their seperate zones/layers which works much better than the sequencer
gagging on data streams.

I am a very, very happy camper.

You had a fabulous respectable urge the last six years, haven't you?
It's great to see how Creamware, S|C ,this community
and all developers within can materialize our strange minds to a real thing.

Happy to see that you finally got the Solaris!

And happy to see it getting integrated into the grand scheme.

Beautiful project !

What do you filter in your midi filter modules and why ?
thanks,

baba

A number of things but mainly CC's while he sends program changes, because if you're sending CC's whilst the patch is changing it can have undesired effects. is that right ?

Actually the MIDI Filters re route MIDI by PrgmChnge messages. These
PrgmCHng messages are sent on MIDI Channel 1
( only channel that the PRJ module uses ) and the Project Preset List
is a snapshot of the MIDI FIlters since they have no preset capability.

The CC Filter by tgstgs is what allows me to " mute all controllers "
like a hardware controller uses, well the better designed ones.

This is important in the world of realtime control. I use presets on the
Prodyssey that have a Modular LFO to MIDI patch that modulates the
Oscillators tuning fader while in Sync mode.
A Sine Wave LFO moves that tuning/fader at a very slow rate which
has a magnificent change in timbre and adds serious motion a sound.
IMHO Sync'd Oscillators on virtual synths have a more dramtic effect
than their hardware counterparts, I am not sure why, but those sounds
from the Prodyssey are nothing short of stunning.

Below is the Set up I use Live that has worked best for me.
The same project can re route and filter all MIDI data, and this allows
me to record, perform and control every aspect of the project by using
PrgmChng messages.
In other words, having a single project that integrates with my DAW or
host, and requires no seperate projects for each chore. I even have editing
presets for Reaper, Bidule or Kontakt, where I can isolate tracks and mute/solo
for closer inspection.
I hate sitting down in front of an LCD. Of course I eventually have to for true editing
but for tracking and playback, I dont even need to be near the LCD or QWERTY.

I asked because I realized that scope midi created pb in my DAW and sometimes it frozen the PC.
I doesn't use the scope midi now I have an Akai MPD24 wich is my new midi interface and in scope I mix only audio flows except for the STM1632 control by the Sequencer midi source and dest.

MIDI is like having a girlfriend.
While we can't be without her, we want her to get a facelft after 26 years.
At least have OSC in parallel, a crutch for the old gal....
