Ensoniq SQ-80 Raw Waveforms

i did these up in conjunction with the help of some users on an SQ-80 mailing list.
these are the complelete set of 75 multi-sampled waves straight outta the wave rom on a real sq-80, not sampled through one.
i'm building a mod patch based around these, as well as food for my sampler (multisampled in their true glory).
i am a generous person and willing to share in most stuffs (i like to contribute to community atomospheres i enjoy hanging around), if you find these interesting or usefull or whatever, i am not without want of a thanks, here or thar.
read the readme.
best.

kim: that would be excellent.
i think you could sell em.
if you could nails some of the neater features about the esq-1/sq-80, i would gladly pay $50-75 for the plug.
some features i couldn't recreate, true keyranged multisampling of all the waves, oscillator sync of oscillator 2, lfo drift, one shot envelopes, envelope restart modes, oscillator restart modes....hmm, built-in layering and key split of 2 patches. envelope velocity attack modulation, envelope times 2-4 key modulation.
i am in talks with a reaktor user who has the same idea, but more or less as a personal project.
he and i have run into some problems though....in particular the lack of being able to use the multisamples on a per "wave" basis, as nothing like that exist for either reaktor or the cream modular.
magico, yah...i used to own an eps16+, and lately an esq-1 (which needs fixing). emu/ensoniq sucks though....emu's samplers are cool, but their rompler line make my stomach roll.
anyways. what i did with these samples is make the said sq-80 based modular patch (which i haven't released yet), and i made up a set of keymapped waves from each multisample set on my hard sampler.
i haven't done much lately with either though. i just got a little tired of it all.

hi magico,
yah, i miss my eps a bit, i needed the money though...and i was getting fed up with it being so non-computer friendly.
the eps/asr line of samplers have some really nice features.
yah, it would be nice if someone did make up an sts bank with these. i would probobly do such, but i don't use the sts. i may in the future, but only if i pick up more dsp. cause right now i'm only working with an elektra, and the modular has found a nice home there which i wouldn't want to disturb!
heh.
yah, the sound quality of the cw cards is wonderfull. the difference is night and day between my elektra and my mac's built-in a/v ports/, which i still use - and were a very thoughtfull feature apple included in their older machines. later machines have just 1/4" mic in and audio out, the latest machines don't even have any sort of audio in.
but i can understand why....apple has to leave room for third parties to provide products to the mac users (which is a thoughtfull attitude...hard to strike a good ballance).
blah, blah, blah.
best.

I can understand that. Myself, the EPS is still here because the price of second hand is too cheap, so i kept it (plus i have klike 300 floppies, almost the complete ensoniq banks).
Stll now i think that's the most musician friendly sampler, with the best output routing (especially when i compare to akai/sts). weak filters, but great edition capabilities.
I do not use it often, but when i do, like once or twice a year, i'm still impressed. too bad there's only 2 mb of ram.
an asr 10 looks nice, but it is still way to expensive. one day maybe....

i have the same thing here... my old Emax II has 8 outputs, SCSI (all standard!), has a big keyboard (like the ensoniq, not?), a (crappy) sequencer, but has only 2Mb of RAM. a few years ago, i asked to upgrade the memory, but it was SO expensive (something like 400$ for an additional 4Mb!!!!!) when it was first released, it was one of the top instruments. now it's worth, well, nothing. i only use it once in a while as a master keyboard, but lately, it makes this strange sound occasionally... i should sample it

i agree!
yah, i replaced the eps with a peavey sp - cost me about a 1/5th of what i sold the eps for....32 mb, nice os, decent synth architechure, free front end editor (makes working with it very nice). a great little sampler, i don't use it a whole lot, instead prefering to do stuff on my mac, but its nice to have one around.
the peavey sp is a little known sampler with some interesting roots.
it was the first sampler designed with smdi functionality, and consequently the person who wrote the os for it also worked on designing this computer to sampler interface standard.
he also happens to be a creamware employee now as well....and...heh, i posted a link to a interview he partook in not long back i came across on http://www.em411.com
matt issacson, i believe?
anyhow.
yah, getting back to strange sounds. the eps/asr line of samplers had this feature if you set a waves loop time to 1 sample - it would randomly glitch, loop all the samples in memory (the bits would be all disordered) and even stuff that wasn't in memory anylonger but had been loaded since being powered on. i think i even got a similar behavior with the sp, i'd have to check.
i got some neat samples out of it.
i'll take advantage of my new found webspace and upload an mp3 of some of the samples demonstrating what it sounded like and post a link back.
i'll do it at a later date though, cause i can't log on to my server (to many connections...blah, blah, blah...try again) at the moment.

the best bug with EPS 16+(R) happens when running a sequence, then pressing "like mad on i don't know what buttons" in disorder etc on the interface : this might create some really cool electronic sound pattern. almost better than Rd2D2

hmm, still can't log into my server....time to call the isp.
heads up though.....i'm in talks with a few reaktor users on making an esq/sq-80 type device.
we are coming up against some problems though (well, i did...and they to noted not knowing how to go about them).
most especially the multi-sampling thing.
how would you scopers deal with this? actually, i think i may post something along these lines in the scope forum.

damn, I tried to reproduce the bug in the EPS, but i now realize that it happend only when the thing is very hot. So i must wait for month of august and let the EPS on for 8 hours or so.....
But yes it it a "error #.... Reboot ?" and there's no choice but to reboot...
I also remember it's one of the first sound I sampled when i got a computer 3 years ago

heh, magico....i don't think that is something you want to be encouraging your eps to do, but hey...whatever floats your boat.
well, after some belated grumbling, my server is now letting me access it....i do hope it doesn't do that regularly though...
anyhow, here is the link to the sounds the eps makes when a sample is looping on only one sample. all pretty short, i sort of wish i would have exploited and sampled it more before i got rid of it....but as is the case...
