ADI "Crystals"

Post by happycritter »

Are there SDK/Modular atoms that call ADI "Crystals" type functions/routines?

Can you explain more?

I googled but couldn't find anything specific. Only a "crystal ball function".
It isn't a highly publicized algorithm, as it is a special effect and not a 'tool' that the usual engineer would look for or specify. It may be buried in a .pdf white paper, but I swore I saw it explicitly a few places (not clock crystals, but software FX) and there are some examples of it womewhere on youtube I believe.

Please bear with me as I may have to delay a legitimate answer until my time becomes available to find proper documentation. It's a pre-fab delay/modulation with regenerative (frequency dependent and dispersive) feedback. Or, in other words, a cool effect. :)

ADI has changed their website and formatting. I can no longer find it. They do, however, still advertise that they have "over 100 pre-built audio algorithms." It is my belief that 'Crystals' are among these as there are about 20 or so X-over styles, 10 or so delays, pink/white noise, etc. Unfortunately, a complete list seems to be unavailable now.

If you can find the complete list of over 100 algorithms where the 'Crystals' are not included among them, then your doubts are confirmed. Otherwise, I'm happy to believe they are still existent and worthy of my consideration.

Is this a VisualDSP++ thing?

There might be a function call called 'Crystals' that utilizes a (n proven) machine/assembly code routine where the VisualDSP values populate the appropriate register(s).
