Thanks for the reminder. I just migrated the old sticky-posts from our old forums to be sticky in the new forums.

Cheers

I never donated anything (except charity), but this site is definitely worth it. sent you a few bucks to say thanks (yes, including the column sorting issue  ).

unfortunately kagi does not accept most if not all famous (web/free)mail services, so I hope the address I used will not be spammed too much from now... paypal would have been much less a p.i.ta. for me... :D

Re: Hosting for PlanetZ

Post by gn »

Hello Everyone,

I haven't been on the boards in a very long time....
Is PlanetZ still looking for more affordable hosting or needing help with the donations?

I would be curious to see how much space and bandwidth are needed. We currently have a lot of space that may be available depending on what is needed.

Give me a private message with more details if anyone knows who to contact, etc.
Thank you!

well, since you can checkout kagi payment via paypal, it's quite easy now.
it's not what I'd call annual PZ donation, but I somehow felt it was time for some more bucks. use them well :)

-greetings, markus-

pps: for a short moment I was tempted to put a ps: line saying "I love ranks!" here, but then I made up my mind... 8)

After all these years with kagi, I decided to give paypal another chance. Added a new "Donate" button at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for your support...

It's centered at the very bottom of every page. Beneath the "powered by phpBB" copyright notice.
I wasn't quite sure where to put it - this probably isn't the best place. I didn't want it to be too obnoxiously in-your-face.

Paypal is so frustrating. I received 5 donations in the first few days after opening my new paypal account (thanks guys!)

When I tried to withdraw funds to my verified checking account, they locked the paypal account due to "suspicious activity". They said to follow the listed steps to resolve the issue. No steps were listed. I called them, and they asked for an explanation of why I was receiving this money. I explained. They passed it to their fraud department. 4 days have gone by. Meanwhile, they're holding the funds.

I just called them again (long distance, no 800 number), explained it all again, sat on hold for 10 minutes, and then got disconnected. Unbelievable!

This is absurd! How can Paypal be so successful when they make it so difficult for their customers?!?

Called again, and went through it all again, and they say that they've decided to leave a permanent hold on the account. WTF?

So I asked them to refund the money that was donated, and they say they are doing that. I'll believe it when I see it. I'll post an update here.

So much for paypal. I guess they haven't changed much since my last bad experience.

Meanwhile, I'll remove the new donate buttons from here, and try to find another way...
