DSP Optimized devices

Post by djmicron »

I'm converting some devices to load them straight on a specific XITE dsp from dsp 11 to dsp 18.
At the moment i have done the job for the minimax and for the multi fx module.

The use is straightforward, i have done some videos to explain better.

The list iwill grow up, so i'm uploading it to my server at the following address:

Also the demonstration videos here on youtube:

I'll post here when new devices converted.

Discussion thread on PlanetZ here:

Thank you

before going to sleep, i added:

AUX RACK
MINIMAX
MultiFx stereo
PRODYSSEY
PROFIT5

Man, I don´t trust my eyes ... that´s amazing !!!
Watched your vids,- this is gold !

I recognize you stop loading stuff when the DSP meter shows values near 5000 on a given single chip.
Is that the limit ?
What happens when you max out voices/polyphony p.ex. for a Minimax instance ?
What´s possible on only 1 of the DSPs #11 - #18 ?

When existing devices can be optimized for XITE-1 like you do,- is there a way S|C could do too ?

Also stunning w/ the Multi FX Rack and to me it looks like it´s all just that what many of us XITE users waited for.

the limit for a dsp is around 6000 value, the minimax@48 Khz can reach 5 voices without troubles on a single dsp and 6 voices@44.1 Khz, so i just set it with a safe value of 5 voices.
When the limit for a single dsp is reached, a message appear about optimization bla bla, but when you force the device on a single dsp, it will fail to optimize, so it's better to pack devices without going over the limit.

I finished to convert the prodyssey and it can reach 7 voices on a single dsp@48 Khz.

It's also possible to point devices to dsp's from 7 to 10, but as these are the dsp with best I/O communication used by devices such as mixers, i usually leave them free.

I'll add devices that will load on dsp 7>10 as this can be useful to fit as much as possible the xite dsp power.

O.k., thank you,- good info !

7 voices for Prodyssey is a great result,- in my former and best optimized project containing 7 synths and a sampler plus aux FX and so on,- 5 voices was the max @44.1k and on a single chip.

I´ve read your very last post too, so I have additional questions here:

You leave DSP#7-#10 free ´cause these have the most communication ressources and I understand why you do that.

But what´s up if the scenario requires a few synths AND one (1) or more samplers in the project as also p.ex. a STM2448X because of many stereo and mono channels needed ?
Do we know where a STM 2448X, which DSP placement isn´t user changable, goes ?
The sampler HAVE to go to DSPs #7 -#10 each sampler on a separate chip.
O.k.,- let´ say if I use one (1) STS3000 (or 4000) on DSP#9 p.ex. and max out to 32-voice polyphony, what to expect from DSP slot 3 being controlled by DSP#9 ?
Less connections between DSP#9 and DSPs #17 & #13 in that case ???

I don´t ask because of bahaviour of your optimized devices,- I´m asking because of making decisions which of your optimized devices should go to which DSP in which slot and this depending on the polyphony I need.

Are you eventually able to change behaviour of STM1632X mixer which goes always to DSP#18 and would better be placed on the DSPs #7 -#10 ?
In many cases, STM 1632X is enough in a keyboard/synth/sampler project and would probaly save more ressources compared to the STM2448X.

thx

Thanks so much for such time saving devices.
A quantum leap forward (Small step for Scopers).
I suspect you will now be spammed with requests for optimisations :D
I can think of a few!! :P
BTW not sure why but I could not download the Profit5 folder?

thank you,- also read in the other (devices) thread.
I´ll stop posting (questions) here and go over to the devices thread to discuss tech details.
