Re: SonicCore at the MusikMesse 2012

Post by HUROLURA »

Oh, I thought everybody knew about the Schmidt 8-voices which was first shown last year during Musikmesse 2011 ...

This one is its designer dream about a polyphonique analog synth based on the "one button per function" paradygm. A kind of monstruous polyphonic minimoog providing 4 oscillator + 7 filters per voice and 137 knobs to play with !!!

Such a configuration with a SOLARIS would have meant more than 1000 knobs though !!!!

By the way, I am almost back home and will try to provide you some feedback as soon as possible but I can already tell you that SC team carries on developping the platform and push forward the open scope spirit to open the platform as much as possible to third party. We should also expect some new hardware from to expand the offer to smaller budget project but no release date for such things ...

The Schimdt is a beauiful synth for meat and potatoe analog subtractive, and it does sound like 30,000 too.
From what I have read there were tons of sales for Solaris.
Was tgstgs there at Messe...?
His device is hypnotic..

Something more about Scope 6 progress: adding the coperlan feature

This new feature would allow to have maximum flexibility regarding remote control of scope devices.
And it will also allow to have much more accurate control than what was possible with MIDI.

What a well designed Booth from S|C. Seperation good monitors but GaryB should have mixed 40 Hetal bands over there and used Jukian as a translator. That would have made GB sweat a little...........

They have a Gran Piano/Controller called Physis that uses 6 x SHARC DSP's.
Saw it on a pic, read it has DSPs, surprised you already know that´s SHARCs.
Very interesting for me too !

Bud
I asked the main engineer at the booth showing the Physis about using SHARC processors, and he said they were using Texas Instrument DSPs, not SHARCs.

No idea.
I hope it will be SHARC 3rd generation chips as mentioned on the Physis website.
Only the Physis Piano is a new product.
The technology already works in their organs, so I doubt they changed for their piano.

Hmmm, well, that IS odd! The guy I spoke with was pretty high up - but perhaps he was trying to mislead me?

This !

Big J.B., using similar technology in his Solaris which lacks a real piano model, comes to their booth asking ...
That´s what they thought ...

Reminds me on the 90th and every time a new synth came out, the 1st question was: "how´s the piano ?"
