FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
I went and bought a souncard w/ a headphone out and mic input.
It was 30 bucks...
I will be using a Sennheiser EW 152 G2 for the mic and 3 way stereo IEM's.
Talk about overkill. The little 30 soundcard sounds pretty good actually.
Anyways see you guys in 13 hours and 40 minutes.
You will need your Scope rig, and a way to hear Assaf.
Hopefully I can bust his balls with my mic...

I think we'll get either an invitation mail or a link here.

Dear synthesis student!
Important notice: The students that are "on hold" may join the first lesson, after which we will know if there is more room in the class.
We found an excellent website that will serve us in hosting the course. Its called Dimdim, and it should work right away with no problems (yeah right...). We have already scheduled the meetings.
The link to the meetings is here - you may bookmark it:
https://webmeeting.dimdim.com/portal/Jo ... y=red_muze
If you would like to be notified about the classes by email you can register here:
http://www.adern.com/course
Requirements:
* a pc with a web connection + speakers in close proximity to your scope system. (this can be your actual scope system).
* A Scope system (minimum 6dsp PCI card) with Modular 2 installed.
* Firefox / Internet Explorer / Safari
Recommended:
* a microphone and a web-cam
Payment options:
The first lesson will be free - as we are expected to have some kind of technical problems on the first time.
Payment actually starts only on the second lesson and we have two payment methods:
1) Pay in advance - pay for 9 and get 10 (360$)
2) Pay as you go - To ensure that the course will happen till the end and still manage to spread the payments - on the second lesson students must also pay for the last three lessons like so:
lesson 1 - free
lesson 2 - 160$
lesson 3 to 8 - 40$ each
lesson 9 to 11 - already prepaid
Total - 400$
Prices do not include VAT or any local taxes. Payment will be done through share-it. If needed i can also issue non share-it invoices for tax deduction.
The syllabus:
0) Introduction
This is a free lesson, an introduction to modular synthesis. Basic concepts, signal types, module types and so on.
1) TB 303
a simple subtractive synthesizer and the guitar of electronic music. This lesson defining the essence of musical behavior, and introduce the first modular patch, and one of the most useful ones.
2) Juno 106
an all time classic synthesizer. This lesson will be delving into modulation concepts, and aesthetics in sound design
3) The additive synthesizer
This lesson is about the most versatile form of synthesis - with which any sound can be made. it is the most fundamental synthesis method and contains basic information on how sound works.
4) FM synthesis
This lesson will be introducing simple FM and Phase Modulation concepts. FM is usually a hard method to master, in this lesson the students will be given useful tips that will help them master this synthesis method.
5) FM synthesis
More on FM synthesizers, complex FM synthesis and aesthetics in FM synthesis.
6) Arp odyssey
This synthesizer has one of the most flexible architectures available. The following lessons will each concentrate on a different aspect of the synthesizer. this lesson will be about the basic architecture of the arp, and advanced modulation concepts
7) Arp odyssey
This lessons will be about sync, pitch modulation(close to FM) and Ring modulation
Arp odyssey
This lesson will be about Sample & Hold, filter FM, looping envelopes, and sound design aesthetics
9) Modern synthesizers
This lesson will deconstruct the Nord lead and the Virus synthesizers
10) Advanced modular
This lesson will give an array of ideas on how to develop your simple patches into unique creations, and is an introduction to the next semester.
After each lesson the students will be given homework, because synthesis needs practice (after that its like riding a bike).
By the end of this course you should be fluent with modular, and comfortable with all subtractive/fm synthesizers.
See you later today!

Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
Some more information for people who wanted to view the recordings / cant make it to this course.
If this course is successful we might open more courses for those who want the personal touch.
about recordings of the lessons, those will be made, but mainly for practice and refinement reasons. We are working on releasing well produced DVDs teaching synthesis using the new FleXor Modular (native edition). each DVD will have 60 lessons (!).

Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
It might be useful to test your connection and setup beforehand, to avoid complications due to last-minute troubleshooting....
Enjoy your modular classes, Red's a fantastic teacher! First, be prepared for a comprehensive view on synthesis as you've never experienced it before - and then the tricks and possibilities will start to grow on you !
I must urge you however to consider carefully: once you've chosen the Red Pill, there's no way back ;p

I am ready to roll...
Internet PC has a camera, IEM's and a mic.
And the rack has a new home since I am doing Piano only gigs until this class is done.
Uncle Sam is paying for my education too.
I even got my plastic Jesus atop my rack..
Well, I don't care if it rains of freezes, long as I got my plastic Jesus,
Sittin' on the QWERTY of my DAW,
He don't slip & he don't slide cause his ass is magnetized,
Sittin' on the QWERTY of my DAW.
Odelay Pinche Way....

Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
BTW Anyone using a MacBook needs to ''right-click'' on the video window....go to 'settings'....then select the USB camera otherwise you will not transmit video from a web-cam (leave it on the wrong setting if you want it off )...in my experience with the OU, nobody uses the webcam apart from the tutor....mine's no good really beacuse its fixed
Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
I do hope that when you say pc that macs aren't excluded I connect to the internet via my mac the only alternative is to use my internet partition on the pc which is loaded with scope but i don't have a webcam for that!!! I'm gona have to bodge together something by tonoght lol!! looking forward to it folks
Oh strav I've just read your message macbook = go! yeah!
So will we get personal login details sent?

Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
You can login with any name, and change on the site later.
I already found out if you use a name different than your Z-name you'll get some "who's that" queries.

K, thanks. I'm good to go then...
Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
This is still happening at 8pm GMT, right? I was confused by the invite mail that says 8pm IST. What is IST? Google suggests that it's Indian Standard Time
Re: FLEXOR CLASSES FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF.....................
The website says ten mins.
but I could be reading it wrong?
