when i record bass guitar into my computer (direct)
i have some over tones in some notes (mainly A).
what should i do in the mix (with pulsar) in order to get rid of those over tones and to cover the bass with the right sound (so it will sound low and not direct).

Subject: bass overtones
Sometimes if your using small monitors in a less than perfect room you can get a resonant frequency depending on where you are in relation to the speakers. Try recording a few notes, including the suspect ones, and then listen back in different parts of the room. Hope this helps...

hi,
a) one imprtant thing is the position of the speakers fritz´ has described. if you have this resonant overtones like a caused by the room accustic you should try if other basses like synth basses give same overtones in your room!
b) an other possibility is up to the bass by itself and the kind you are playing it. you should try if you have the same overtone while playing the a-string or playing the e-string 5th fret... the reason caused by the playing-position of the right-hand (if you are right-handed!?) ... everywhere where you are playing a position (righthand) you are playing on the half or the quarter string you can get overtones by the string itself... i hope you can understand my broken description.... later i may can give you some tips how you can get the bass more indirect... mail me!

i understood your description and it apears to B the second
cause that U mentioned.
the overtone has occured when i played the A note.
i think that i'll probably try to EQ it or to put
a device of bass amplifier between them.
any way, i'm not a great bass player and if U know where
i can get some good bass sampels i'll B glad to download them.
