So this one has the techs at Ableton stumped...

Post by revel8or »

I just upgraded to Ableton Suite. Ableton Standard ran (and still runs) just fine using Scope ASIO. Ableton Suite (same program, just additional addons) does not recognize Scope 5.1 as not only running, but will not recognize ASIO from Scope. Suite does just fine with ASIO4ALL, and the techs at Ableton got Suite to "use" Scope by routing things through ASIO4ALL and into Scope.

So, we've tried all of the usual solving problems:

Reinstallation of everything, deletion of preferences file in Ableton to force it to rescan interfaces...we tried Scope Suite installed by itself, and then reinstalled Scope Standard - and still got the same result - Standard is great with Scope, Suite requires a workaround through ASIO4ALL.

I'm running Windows 10, 12g DDR3, 3.8 Xeon, and, yes, every program on my computer is a bought-and-paid-for version. I've learned the hard way :( but I get a lot better results from not cheating. :)

Anyway, Scope 5.1 works with *everything* I have installed - from Wavosaur through Maschine 2, Serato, and whatever NI Ultimate (not the huge-ass version) brings to the table. Except Ableton Suite.

Now, for clarity, Suite *does* function with Scope, but the techs at Ableton route the audio through ASIO4All and then into Scope...if there is any advise in how to remove that extra step and get it working like Ableton Standard does, i.e. using ONLY Scope ASIO, directly, then I'd appreciate the advise.

Thanks a lot for your time, all.

Also, both Scope and Ableton should be run in administrator mode.

I know that they are both in admin, but i’m Not sure that Ableton is in compatibility mode for 8. I’ll check and get back.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Wow. An hour’s worth of work from a very kind Ableton employee - whose attitude and customer service was equal that from Sweetwater...and very appreciated...lead me to ask here :D

Thanks, a LOT for your advise. Suite now plays nice with Scope!

Standard was already set up to run in compatibility mode (checked!), but forgot *totally* about that setting. Had Suite as admin, but not in Win 8 compatibility.

garyb, thanks again, and petal, thank you, too!

Namaste!
