noises crack record and play cubase
Hi guys,
Already read topics about that but I can't solve anything for the moment.
Suddenly I heard random noises when I play audio files within cubase, it looks like random noises sometimes. More I suspect some noises are also recorded when I record audio sources. Some crack are definitely not random.
Today playback in sound forge os ok whereas yesterday it "cracked" a lot. Waiting for hours can bring back to normal.
All used to work ok for years, what do you think I could check?
Audio cables?
Graphic card?
Ram issue?
Soft issue?
Bios parameters?
Many thanks.

Forgot to say, gear=
Luna2 + pulsar 2+ ada8200
And it doesn't seem to be related to adat because recording with pulsar analog input has the same issue.
Thx again

with so little information, one can only guess, at best.
what computer/CPU/motherboard?
what setup steps did you take?
what is sharing irqs with the cards?
have you seen this?:

Re: noises crack record and play cubase
Thanks Gary.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400
Asrock 4Core 1600 Twins P35
No new software no new hardware
I only noticed IRQ 19 shares a USB with the Luna.
I suspect it could be software related as the last time I checked (yesterday evening) everything seems to be OK. I just loaded a new project and built it from scratch. I'll check that again tonight.
Or do you think this could be some kind of material issue with 1 of the 2 boards?

Re: noises crack record and play cubase
you should disable the usb controller sharing irq 19 in the device manager.
no, i don't think it's the cards. perhaps a vst? perhaps a random conflict with the usb controller...
have you disabled speed-step?

I disabled the Usb controller yes.
>have you disabled speed-step?
I don't know where it is in the BIOS I need to check.
I'll give an update when I'll make new tests. Last thing this is an "old" config running under XP sp3.

Re: noises crack record and play cubase
I rebooted clicks are back...
Bios parameters:
Enhanced halt state enabled
Intel virtualization tech enabled
Cpu thermal throttling enabled
No execute memory protection disabled
Intel speedtest auto. Regarding this last one I tried to disable it without success.
Should i turn off all of these?
Thanks!

Re: noises crack record and play cubase
it's the thermal throttling(intel EIST) that is probably the biggest offender. the usb controller on irq19 needs to be disabled.
it's all here in the link i posted earlier:

Sometimes it's just loose cables.
