Have you already tried with another sequencer, for instance Reaper? Just to check if it works.
I have no problems with it. It installs fast.

Reaper via Asio works. For me it seem to be a compatibility issue between Pulsar and several windwos apps on the asio/winaspi. Interesting that this occured after the win10 update. Does microsoft changed a little bit more than only the driver signature process ? Or maybe does the driver authorization fix this and that in addition as hidden "feature" ?

Gary, what's the expert opinion ?

no, that looks strange.
don't you have 2 Scope "speakers" in Windows? try the second set.

ASIO4All seems to believe that the Scope driver is there.

there seems to be something really buggered in your installation...
it's just a desperate measure, but you can try re-running the Scope installer(after disabling driver sig enforcement). don't unistall, just rerun the installer. that should overwrite any possible Scope file problems.

Has anyone looked more into this? I have ASIO working in Reaper, but Ableton Live (9.7) cant allocate the ASIO driver. Steinberg ASIO driver runs fine in Live as well.

Anyone using Ablton Live (latest release) with WIN10 updated?

Live is the application that made me suggest trying compatibility mode. other Live users have had success using win8 compatibility mode for Live.

Hi,

I think Mine is a different problem.
Scope PCI installed correctly.
1} Reaper Plays.
1} Adobe Premiere Plays

Infact all DAWs play.

But I cannot play music or videos using windows media player.

I need to play Tutorials.

I have installed the win 10 codec pack.
Now I can see that media player is playing the wave files but no sound reaches scope.
Scope is the the default sound card selected in windows.

Any help Gary??

right click on the speaker icon choose "playback devices" and then choose one of the SonicCore "speakers". often #2 is the correct one. use the "test" function to verify.

of course, a wave source must be connected to the Scope mixer. i prefer the 24bit wave source and destination.

Hi Gary.

Thanx. Ive already tried that without success.
Before instaling the codec pack the error was that of a missing codec.
After the codec instalation i can see that the music is playing through the windows media player and even thought the vlc media player.
But for some stange reason there is no communication with scope.

This morning I tried Adobe Audition 2017/18 .
Error Asio source and destination or Sample rate problems.
Same error with Melodyne.

Could this be compatibility problems?????

Regards

Ike

what codec pack?

Windows error messages can be misleading, they're not some AI.

there isn't anything special about making windows sounds work. what version of Scope? what os?

this could have been handled on a new thread or via support... :D

Hi,
Sorry Gary

Did nt know I need to start a new thread.

Windows 10 Codec pack
From Cole Williams Software: The Windows 10 Codec Pack is a free easy to install bundle of codecs/filters/splitters used for playing back movie and music files. After installation you will be able to play 99.9% of files through your media player, along with VCDs, SVCDs, and DVDs. Additional file associations are applied to make Windows Media Player play BDMV (unencrypted BluRay/AVCHD), EVO (unencrypted HD-DVD), MKV, M2TS, MP4, VOB, OGM, WEBM, FLV, and NUV movie files, as well as AC3, DTS, FLAC, APE, OGG, WV, TTA, OFR, SHN music files, and finally MO3, IT, XM, S3M, MTM, MOD, and UMX tracker audio files. Compression types supported include AVC, H.264, x264, H.263, H.261, DivX, XviD, Flash Video, MJPEG, MPEG4, MPEG2.
The package detects the best proof tested settings with additional options for CPU, GPU, and DXVA compatibility. Audio options during install allow users to set output from basic 2.0 channel stereo, right up to 7.1 channel output. Digital audio S/PDIF / HDMI passthrough for home theatre systems can be set by the user to output Dolby Digital AC3, Dolby Digital Plus E-AC3, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD, even multichannel non-AC3/DTS audio (for example 5.1 channel FLAC) can be set to encode as AC3 and output to digital S/PDIF / HDMI.

Included in the package are a number of encoder codec's, allowing you to encode files in formats such as DivX and XviD in your favourite encoding application. Please note that protected formats may require a specific player. 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows Media Player are supported as well as most other players. The package supports 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

Also installed K Lite Codec Pacl

Scope 5.1 PCI

Windows 10 service Pac 1

I am just a guitar player asking for help.
I am aware of the stress you guys are under and so are we the consumers.

i'm not sure what you mean by this.

first, i have no problem with you or your question.

i asked specific questions because they will help me to understand what is happening.

there is NO(ZERO) need for any codec packs unless you are using a strange file. win10 already has all the codecs needed for most operations. you are chasing the wrong dragon.

if you are using v5.1, then you likely need to restart the proper services as Ripper suggested.

last, being a guitar player is not a factor. you have a studio now, so you need to become an engineer a little bit at a time. this way you can actually run your studio. you will develop the needed skills if you take your time and don't get too frustrated.

Hi Gary
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I have no problem with you either.
I think we are both chasing the wrong dragon.

let me repeat myself.
All my sequencing applications are working fine.
Reaper, Ableton, Sonar, Reason.
No problem with that at all.
Reaper has not suggested any codecs, it works OK.

1) I have problems with my editing applications
Melodyne 4 Stand alone, Adobe Audition 2018, ReVoice Pro 3.4
These will not run or will crash Scope
The error displayed is that there are no Asio Destination and Asio Source loaded in the Routing Window.
However Asio Source/Destination are loaded but are not being seen by these applications.
These apps are not cracks either.
My windows 10 is registered as well.

2) The Codecs are being flagged when I try to use Windows Media Player to go over some tutorials.

I googled this item and can see a lot of posts on a similar problem for a lot of people.
However the solution to that problem is not specific to Scope.
I am posting here in an effort to get advice how I can resolve this on a Scope System.
Microsoft advises that I should install the codec pac, because Windows 10 Sp 1 does not ship with all codecs for madia applications.
I have done that but I get an error that My Scope device does not support these codecs.
As you rightly point out these errors can be misleading.

As far as competence engineering wise goes I am ok.
I started on Reel to Reels when I was 14. I am now 65.
I have a Degree in Electronics and I understand computers very well.
This is just one of those problem I cannot get my head around
I am making music and I am happy in that respect.

In a way I might be highliting a problem that will surface later on elsewhere.

Regards

Hi Gary

Maybe you could throw me pointers on the above which is not behaving the way it should.
My media apps cannot see Scope.
