Re: digital audio between scope pcs
how many channels of audio do you need?
ADAT works, sp/dif works and analog works. none are "best".

Re: digital audio between scope pcs
I use ADAT, it allows 16 channels in both ways. You just have to set slave & master correctly...
Re: digital audio between scope pcs
i just need the entire signal stereo sum, but 8 channel adat could be cute too
so you connect directly optical cables between pcs? no need for an interface?

well, each PC has some kinda interface/card, right? (the part with the ADAT connectors)
but yes, you connect one machine to the other. one card is set to master, and one to slave. sp/dif and aes/ebu are the same. you can use analog, too. you really won't hurt anything using an analog signal...

Re: digital audio between scope pcs
I found that without the wordclock sync plate, I was never able to get satisfactory digital sync between my two scope pci systems, and all my ADDA. I could get all the inputs good, but sync transmitted over AES/ebu or ADAT to the 2nd scope system would still pop and click. Since I've got everything synced by wordclock, there are no problems.
My system sync goes System A master --> A16 ultra via z-link-->word clock out of A16 ultra- System B sync via wordclock -> other ADDA by wordclock. I send audio from system B to A via AES/ebu.

Re: digital audio between scope pcs
I'm not sure I get it.. It was not possible to connect correctly 2 computers with Scope pci's via ADAT ? Well.. Here, I connect 1 pc with Xite & the other with PCI's , I set PCI's as master and I never have any click. Normally, no clock is needed with ADAT as there is one (master) that is the clock, and all slaves obey to the chief..gruebleengourd wrote:I found that without the wordclock sync plate, I was never able to get satisfactory digital sync between my two scope pci systems, and all my ADDA. Jopo, sounds like gruebleengourd has other gear as well, so using wordlock in addition to ADAT is a good idea. And it sounds like your scope systems are talking now?

Shit ! It seems I don't understand english anymore ! Is it a question ? My scope systems are talking nicely together. The old and the young, they understand each other very well and they are talkative...jksuperstar wrote:And it sounds like your scope systems are talking now?

i got it connected now via adat, so far no clicks but didn't test for too long yet.

ADAT should be nearly perfect.

If it's just the two scope systems, ADAT worked fine.
It's just that I have 5+ sets of ADDA that need to be kept in sync as well. Before I had the wordclock sync board, I could sync one of the ADDA to the first scope systems adat, and then from there wordclock to the rest, all the inputs were fine. But If I tried to sync the 2nd scope system from another ADAT out of the master scope system, it would generate occasional glitches. I needed to get wordclock in on the 2nd scope system.
Re: digital audio between scope pcs
no, for that many devices, you need bnc wordclock.

SP/DIF for connecting Scope PCI to Scope XITE-1D on same PC flawlessly @ 96Khz here.
