Copy Protection Violation Message
Copy Protection Violation Message
Think I figured this problem out.
For the last year or so I was finding out that the keyfile seemed to like being placed in the Project Folder.
No problemos, whatever makes Scope happy.
On occasion I got the copy violation error and any error is a major problem when performing.
I cant tell my mates to play a trio song again just to reboot.
Found out by taking the keyfile once installed then pasting it over the top of the other in C/: Apps/Bin I haven't seen the error since.
Just in case anyone else wanted to know.

Jimmy, is that a copy or cut and paste?

Dante!...
I know the stress.
Once in the early nineties, a gig on a party with an ambient show, I had to learn that when I was in the musicians room, the electricity had gone down, ánd repaired.
Empty Kurzweil K2000 sampler...
A big mistake not having checked the setup before actual start
Once but never again

Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
weird - I stared getting these messages a week ago. The only thing of merit that changed on my system was a BIOS flash update. I understand how that might affect copy protection (or maybe I'm not really sure but it's the only thing that changed).
Is there a way to correct this without having to reinstall SCOPE? I don't mind doing that but if there's a faster solution I'm all ears (or eyes lol)
thanks

Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
Do you let your PC sleep, or get close to it? Maybe the new BIOS handles sleep power differently for PCI, and it causes a disconnect between hardware and software (and maybe there's a setting in your BIOS that can change this somewhere?)
Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
go to power options and click on "change plan settings" and then "change advanced power settings". go to PCI Exress and be sure that Link State Power Management is off. while you're there, be sure that sleep is disabled..
Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
all power/sleep/hibernation settings are disabled in Windows (7). Everything is set to always on.
There doesn't appear to be anything in BIOS related to PCI sleep mode.

Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
what about the PCI Express setting in power options?
the copy violation message usually happens because the unit loses contact with the software.
windows error messages are not intelligent. they are generic. they don't point to exact problems.

Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
There is only one configurable option under that category and it is Link State Power Management which is currently set to off. There are three selectable options there: Off, Moderate power savings, Maximum power savings. My understanding about this option is that "off" is the best option for a desktop DAW PC. Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
no, it should be off.
also, if it's available in the device manager's properties for the unit, the checkbox for "reset board if idle" should be unchecked.

where is this option located? I know what the device manager is and can see Xite listed there under the various options but can't find a checkbox for board reset if idle
Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
there usually isn't one in 64bit windows, but it would be in the "settings" tab.
Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
ok I'm using Win 7 Home 64garyb wrote:there usually isn't one in 64bit windows, but it would be in the "settings" tab.
Re: Copy Protection Violation Message
I believe the "Reset board if idle" option is only on the PCI cards in Win7. It's in Device Manager, (Scope device) Properties, Settings.
