Windows 10 Pro 64bit doesn't want to play wave/mp3

Post by fidox »

Hi !

On my audio workstation (2nd computer) :
I'm little confused or maybe i'm missing something, but i can't play any wave, mp3 on Windows 10 pro 64bit.
If i open wav, mp3 with any player in windows, failed, if i open or load wav into Sound Forge , doesn't work,
ASIO works fine, in Cubase importing and playing wavs works fine.

This is clean install of Windows 10 pro 64bit, before, i updated windows from 8.1 to win 10 and was working fine that time.
So, must be something i've missed.
1 x Luna II + 2 x Pulsar 2 XTC

Here, on this computer (1st computer) i have Luna II installed and Windows 10 Home 64bit, i can play wavs, mp3 normal.
I've checked all settings on both computers, nothing much is different.
3 x Luna II

On both computer i have scope 5.1. installed.

what i have tried so far, re-installed scope 5.1 , installed drivers again ....

any tips, suggestions would be nice ! :)

Thanks,
Matej

thanks dante for your reply,
yes, i have checked control panel, settings are the same on both computer.
i think it's not so related just to windows 10, could be that i see that long time ago in win 8. :)
it's not such a problem, since i can work normal with Cubase, asio, wave drivers, everything works nice.

did you go to run/services.msc and restart Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services(in that order)?
find the service and right click on it and choose "restart". this usually has to be done once.

I think I have the same problem.
Testing W10 but no audio on Sonic Core. I can`t select devices on Control Panel

On Services.msc, I can find "Windows Audio Service " but no "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder "
(I use Windows 10 Spanish: "Windows Audio" = "Audio de Windows" but "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder "=???)
so I can´t check.

There vas a post in this forum with two reg files to automatize this but I can´´t find the post.

Please, help

Hmm,

This happens to me sometimes even on Windows 7 x64. I thought my project was corrupted, but Windows decided to add more Scope wave drivers or something. The project works fine, but I am not sure how Windows is seeing 4 Scope wave out devices :/

In Portuguese it is called: "Constructor de Ponto Final de Audio do Windows" In Spanish it should be very similar.
