Luna Card Communications Error

Post by mausmuso »

Hi There,
I am running a Win 7 pro, 32bit PCI 5.1 scope setup with a Luna and pulsar 2 cards installed.
This is my second setup as I have XITE-1 running on a 64Bit machine.
I began experiencing communication errors on Scope startup.
It suggests the problem can be rectified by reloading DSP's.
That worked on occasions for a while.
Other times I would launch for a second time and all would be good.
I also noted that I began to get communication errors when I closed Scope down.
This did not affect anything so I did nothing about it.
Anyway, now the communication errors are constant and I can no longer load Scope at all, (Scope is licenced to the Luna Card).
Removing the Luna card, Scope it tries to load with Pulsar but cannot find a licence of course. This tells me the problem is with the Luna card.
I cleaned the gold edge connectors and tried moving the card to another slot, all with the same end result.
I note the computer says the card is working properly so I don't think it is the drivers.
I did 'repair' Scope with no change.
Could my default project be causing an issue - resulting in a DSP overload type issue?
This project has been used for at least the last year, but may be corrupt?
It uses about 1 DSP, so it not heavy in itself.
Could it be hardware?
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Regards

that's a bad sign for the Luna card. it's probably broken.
jhulk might be able to help repair it.

if you want to return the broken card(assuming it is broken), you can transfer the license to the other card. write to support.

Thanks Gary,
I think that is the next step.
I uninstalled the driver and Scope and reinstalled fresh - same outcome
I will request a transfer to the Pulsar card and look at repair or maybe replacement with another card.

Lunas sometimes pop up on here for like 50$. Probably not worth the repair. S|C is nice and will transfer your stuff to a working card for free.

Thanks Tom,
That was my first card and has been working since 2001.
Not a bad run I'd say.
I think you are right I will watch out for a second hand card.
I might upgrade to second Pulsar
